Morning all hope you are well. So a little bit about me, I’m 30 and currently 21 months into TTC. Had no idea this journey would be so hard, honestly been the hardest emotional pain I’ve ever had. I was diagnosed hypothyroid and Hashimoto’s when I first saw a fertility specialist. It’s been a long year trying to get that the best it can be. On my last appointment I was given 6 months of Clomid before being referred for IVF. I was praying I wouldn’t need to start the Clomid, but today AF showed and I just feel so down again.
Anyway, I know I’m fortunate to have something to try and I hope it’s what does the trick. Anyone have any tips for taking Clomid? I’ve read maybe taking it at night may help reduce side effects since you’ll be sleeping.

Welcome. TTC journey is ridiculously hard, and it can be difficult for people to understand who haven't been through it.... ("oh well, you can try again next month", "have you tried...... relaxing, not worrying about it, going on holiday, drinking, not drinking, changing your diet", "my cousin's friend got pregnant by......", "are you having enough sex" (my personal least favourite - so insulting) - yeah, no, this is the most painful thing I've experienced in my life, and of course I've tried all those things (and more). Anyway, we're a supportive bunch on here and we DO get it. Don't have any advice on the Clomid, though, sorry! Lots of love xxx
Thank you for your sweet reply, it’s definitely so helpful having people who can truly relate. It’s so hard even having the conversation with others who really don’t get it. I’ve definitely had some of those comments, most of the time I just smile but inside I’m screaming.
Xxx
Hi Catlady. Its good they have discovered your thyroid and even better they know its Hashis. Took me 3 years to get diagnosed and being fobbed off as unexplained. Not saying that our infertility is caused by it necessarily but it is always good to know what is going on in our bodies etc so we can try to manage. There are here some ladies that were successful with hashimotos so not the end of the world. I think they just always start with clomid in the uk and hope it does the trick. I wasnt regular so i was really looking forward to start it. Did 6 rounds and nothing. It did regulate my cycles though. So give it a try and i do hope it does the trick for you xxx
I’m so grateful that it was spotted because god knows where I would have been if it wasn’t. Started off with a TSH of 29 so no wonder I was feeling dreadful. I have always been regular so I was a bit confused when I was prescribed Clomid, but as you say maybe it’s a case of try this before we go any further. Did you find that Clomid affected your thyroid at all? I really don’t want it to throw mine off after getting it to where it is now.
Thats the bizar thing. I didnt know i was hypo then. They always told me it was in range until my fertility consultant flagged it. Good god 29!! Poor you
It took me a year to get it where i am from ths 5.5 to ths 1 on 100mcg Levo. If u can try to areange for bloods a few days after you take your clomid so if there is an effect you can adjust levofor the other rounds? Xx
Same with me, I had been to my GP previously with extreme fatigue etc but they said all “normal”, only that fertility consultant actually said there was an issue.
Yes I think that’s what I’ll do, I’ll take the Clomid for 5 days and and maybe do my bloods a few days later to see if it does anything. Thank you for your advice, really helpful 🙂
Hey, I hope you've had some luck with clomid. Could I ask how you got prescribed it? My gynaecologist has never offered it, do you have to be a certain weight?
Hello, unfortunately no it didn’t work for me. Yes I was prescribed via my gynaecologist but I’m not sure if you have to be a certain weight. Think it was a last attempt for us before being referred for IVF.
