Prontogest injections

Hi, this is my first post on here. Anyone here on prontogest injections? I find that they really hurt for days afterwards. Any tips to help with this?

Hi, where exactly are you injecting them? The positioning is *really* important for these. Needs to be above the line of the bum crack, on the outer quadrant, higher than you might think, as long as your glute muscle is still underneath. If that's makes sense. It definitely makes a difference for me, but they are still pretty unpleasant xx

I haven't done these but some people say that icing the area first helps and warm the solution to body temperature in the vial before injecting is meant to help too.xx

Hi. Warm the liquid. I usually just make a hot water bottle- leave the vial underneath the bottle whilst my hubby cleans the area and prepares needle. He sort of darts it in and massages it after he has given the shot. Then places the hot water bottle over the area for a few min. Are you hitting the right area- like the poster below asked? I know it’s painful but it’s the best out there in terms of progesterone for me... good luck

Thanks for all your replies. I think I am getting them in the right place. I do warm the vial up as hubby is preparing everything but I will definitely try the hot water bottle idea as I do massage afterwards but not sure how effectively I am massaging. Xxx

Hi, I’m on progesterone in oil injections too (2x a day) and I know the pain! I massage the area before and straight after the shot I massage like a mad woman, like quite firm. Then 5 mins with the heating pad. And I also bought a small massage ball with spikes (like the ones they have in gyms) and I use it while I watch TV in the evening. This is really making a difference, more massage, more pressure. I still have knots but not as bad as I used to.

How long have you got left of the injections?

Thanks for your reply. Wow 2x day. Lol mine are once every 3 days. I will definitely try the massage ball and heat pad/hot water bottle.

Unfortunately, I’ve just started. Have my FET tomorrow so hopefully it all works out.

Absolutely, anything for a good result! But yeah, that progesterone in oil is evil haha
