Results of laparoscopy

3 days after laparoscopy/ histeroscopy, feel much better and start thinking about all the questions that I never asked when I’ve been discharged. After laparoscopy being still under anaesthetic the doctor explain what was found . Basically said that I have endometriosis , right tube blocked and left tube hidrosalpinx. That is all he said . Now I am left with so many questions about. How can I know exactly what was done ? I can ask my gp for a copy of the letter that was send ( I don’t know if was actually send a letter) . Can I call the hospital to ask for results? With who I will speak now ? I am in such a big dilemma right now . I have 2 embryos on ice and I don’t know what I need to do now , need to sort out with this hidrosalpinx before transfer but with who I will talk about? Need to call the clinic ? My gp? The hospital?

Hi sorry to hear you are having such a rough time, i have always thought how stupid it is to tell you results and things when you have just come around from an anesthetic, how do they expect us to remember! I had bilateral hydrophix where both my tubes were filled with fluid. The consultant said no ivf clinic would touch me until I had an op to sort them out as ivf wouldn't work as fluid could drain out onto an embryo trying g to implant etc. Anyway I had an op at a private clinic where my consultant burned the ends of my tubes via keyhole surgery and I have to be honest the pain afterwards was worse than I expected and it took me a while to recover. But once I did I then started the ivf process. Hope this helps x

Thank you so much for your reply

I wonder why they didn’t clip my tube unde laparoscopy to don’t need to go again 🙈😣, saying that I had 2 cycles with my clinic and 3 transfer ( 2 fresh one frozen) all resulting in bfn , I was keep telling them if is possible to have hidrosalpinx and is a reason of failure and they was saying that if was to be they could see on the scan , . Lost 3 embryos just because they was refusing to listen to me 🥺.

To be honest I was wondering the same when I read what you said as it seems harsh to put you through it again when they are already in there! I had my hydrophix diagnosed by having a hsg a couple of years ago as the dye didnt go through at all. So after going private my consultant did a vaginal ultrasound to double check and it was obviously still there. So that's when he told me what I would need to have done to go down the ivf route. He said before the op that he would do what he thought was best depending on how things looked when he got inside as he didnt want to cause more damage if anything was attached to ovaries etc. Shen I woke up he said that I was quite simple and he corrurised the ends of my tubes which basically means burning the ends so that was no fluid would leak out and I could start ivf after recovery. I cant imagind how after your clinic have done transfers for you that they havent been able to see these issues and could have got it fixed before losing your precious embryos. What a nightmare for you but It can be sorted so hold on to that. Clinics seem to think that it's a one size fits all from my experience so far but as us ladies know we are all individual and each case should be explored and treated accordingly in my opinion. Everything I have been told and read myself suggests that ivf is unlikely or even wont work without hydrophix getting sorted first. I would get onto getting it looked into asap because everything takes so much time as you know and if your anything like me you probably just want to get straight on with getting things going. Best of luck to you and I'm sure you'll get it all sorted dint panic! X

Ps. Chase up whoever did your laparoscopy for the complete diagnosis then ask them what they suggest you do next. Make your clinic aware of the situation so they can prepare and get things sorted there end for when your ready to transfer again? The gp should be able to get you redirected to get another hospital appointment to get it done so you can move forward. I'm not sure where you live or how it works where you are but that's what I would expect to happen x

Thank you so much for your advice, it does help me to understand where I am , I will call my gp on Monday to ask about the complete diagnosis and to give me a copy of the letter that was sendet to him from the hospital. And then I will call the clinic to see what is happening next , if they will refer me back to hospital to clip or remove that tube ( as far I got is just the left one with hidrosalpinx and right one is blocked) . Hopefully will sort out in one way to move a little faster ( I was waiting 1 year for this laparoscopy) .

The waiting around for everything is one of the things I find hardest I thought injections would be worse but the waiting wondering and not knowing is way worse. Use the weekend to rest up eat some treats watch a good film and get the ball going again monday... your doing all you can so take care of yourself x

It is so frustrating now , after all failed transfers finally got my appointment to check why is not working , had histeroscopy, laparoscopy and die test in the same day under general anaesthesia and left the hospital with just knowing that yeah , you have hidrosalpinx and endometriosis. I was in there , was supposed to find and fix problems under that laparoscopy but all I got is a answer on what I thought already. Now I need to recover from this first and then go again under laparoscopy to do what they found 😣🙈. I don’t even know where to start now , plus with all this COVID situation I was staying at home for 2 weeks before laparoscopy ( to isolate / hospital policy) and one week now until I recover and then start again .

I can totally understand your frustration it's bad enough waiting for things without bloody covid delaying our dreams. Its ridiculous that they didnt fix you whist you were u der otherwise what's the point of them doing it, I found recovery hard when I had keyhole surgery for my hydrophix and I personally wouldn't want to go through it again. What a waste of your time and money and strength to have to go it over again. Dye test should be one of the first investigations you get done before they should even doing a transfer for you in my opinion. Now you feel wasted and cheated as if the ivf route isn't draining emotionally financially and physically enough you now feel back to square one. Really your within your rights to complain about your situation as it seems so unfair to me. I'm sure you'll keep going tho as you've come this far and on a positive note you've frosties waiting for when your sorted and ready so in the meantime focus on getting better x
