St Barts waiting lists

Hello all, quite specific but I wondered is anyone being treated at St Barts London for IVF please? I’m waiting for the GP referral to get started with our frozen embryos but wondering what the wait is like now after Covid lockdown and the backlog.

I’m so impatient I’m wondering if it will be after Xmas we are seen!? This time we are paying and it’s just defrosting implantation so not the whole stims which takes longer. Anyone with any experiences please can you share with me! Thank you!

I’d be interested to know this too . I haven’t put in my referral yet but we’d like to try for a second at Barts and will be putting in a referral very soon. Good luck with your next cycle 😘😘

I will let you know how I get on! I’m sort of thinking it will take ages so I’d better start but if it’s really fast I will also be nervous!!!

I did the GP phone referral and from that they said it will take 2 weeks to go to St Barts and for them to contact me to start anything.

I was referred to Barts in October 2019. After some tests in January, I finally had a consultation in April 2020 (though this was over the phone due to covid), at which point I was told I was ready to go ahead with treatment and had been put on the nurses’ waiting list to be contacted with a start date. So it took 7 months from GP referral to be put forward for treatment. After the April appointment I expected to be contacted with a start date quickly, however it is now September and I’ve still heard nothing more from Barts. I’m still on their waiting list but we have now gone privately via another clinic because I couldn’t see anything happening with Barts any time this year (I am an older patient with low AMH where time is limited). When I was chasing them during the lockdown in May, they told me they were due to reopen in July and from that point on were treating 10 patients per week, which put me months behind anyone who’d already been undergoing a cycle when the lockdown began. They were restarting by treating those who were part way through a cycle, followed by the oldest patients/those whose funding was due to end (I’m 39 so not the very oldest). I have to say the experience with them - the waiting and no communication whatsoever (even when you call up they can’t tell you anything) - has been one of the most stressful things I’ve experienced. I hope that these problems ease up soon and your experience is better. I was extremely lucky that we could stretch to a private clinic. I don’t know whether paying patients are prioritised differently.

Thank you, this is really useful as you can’t stop thinking about it every day. I’d just like to know if it’s 2/6/12/18 months!

We had IVF at St Barts in 2018. I had GP referral about Aug/sept 2017, we started lots of tests in March 2018. Ridiculously lucky that we got pregnant first time with IVF Sept 2018.

As the rest of our embryos are frozen through them (and we obv have to pay now) I was wondering how it works, I’m almost 39. This is really useful to know if they are being slow maybe I’ll look up if I can switch to another clinic. Food for thought! Thank you for sharing and good luck on your journey xxxx

Things might have improved but I don’t think so because I still haven’t heard from them.

We had our sperm samples stored there but it was relatively easy to move them.

Fingers crossed you get seen quickly - I would keep calling and calling ...

So we’ve had an email to say there they’ve received our GP letter and there is a backlog of appts to book. Also due to covid there is a 12 week delay with initial consultation. Not sure if the 12 weeks is from the GP letter or the initial appt. Patience is a virtue!
