I have PCOS & had my baseline ultrasound today and they found 23 folicies on my right ovary and 19 on the left. The consultant said I need to do a blood test for AMH which takes 10 days for the results and mentioned the risk of OHSS.
Has anyone else had similar results from their ultrasound?
Is the AMH test done to determine what medications they give you once you start treatment for IVF?
Trying not to worry but feel like I’m overthinking

Hi, the AMH is to determine your ovarian reserve but I'm surprised the results take 10 days. You can get a home test which you use a finger prick test and get the results quicker than that, although the clinic may want to do their own test. The follicle count from your scan and the AMH will give them an idea of how you may respond to medication. It is normal for clinics to want to do both tests.
As you have such a high follicle count they'll be careful not to overstimulate you, therefore they may give you a lower dose of stimulation, as that can lead to OHSS. Ideally you want a good number of high quality eggs and not lots of lower quality ones.
Hope that helps? You really don't need to worry ;-)! x
I’m suprised you haven’t had you AMH tested before hun. It’s normally one of the first tests they do in regards to IVF. Don’t be too alarmed with follicle count, I had 33 on the one ovary. I had mild OHSS after but was over quite quickly & manageable. It just means you will be closely monitored which is a good thing! Good luck! Xx
