The scratch itself is over with in a matter of seconds but it is pretty uncomfortable. It’s worth considering taking pain relief like paracetamol (if you are able to take them) before you go in.
Afterwards I felt occasional cramping and had a little bleeding but otherwise, fine. Was able to drive myself home.x
Hi, hope it all went well today! I had my scratch last week and it was fine, over very quickly, a bit of cramping but that only lasted a few seconds. I think the speculum thing they put in first is the worst bit!
They did tell me to take paracetamol before the appointment and they told me I might have a bit of spotting afterwards but I didn't really get any. Was able to drive home and back to normal activities straight away afterwards xx
The beginning was painful but after was ok. I felt in second like period pain ...then after 5 min laying down I was able to get my self 2gother .
The doctor explained me the whole procedure that went really well and she “removed “old cells so new one can “grow”.
I mentioned my extra vagina progesterone when should I start taking them ...she said on transfer day... and here Im bit confused....
what I remember with my previous cycles I always been told to start progesterone 5days before transfer 3x a day and now she is telling me on transfer day????
Over 2weeks ago I had consultation with different doctor in clinic next to my home and he knows my history well from 5 years ago who done my op on my tubes ...saying to use that last embryo we have and do scratch but take some progesterone support exactly 48h after a “smiling face appeared on ovulation stick”.
Well that will make sense so why she says different???? Any idea girls? Please
Glad the scratch went well. One word of caution. I had the heaviest period I’ve ever had following my scratch, which I guess makes sense because it really disrupts the lining and gets rid of the old cells before growing new ones. I also seem to remember I came on a couple of days early. So I would say make sure you are carrying round extra pads/tampons for this cycle.
As for the progesterone, I’ve only ever had medicated transfers so I have been progesterone 5 days before hand. All I can think is that because you’re having a natural transfer your body should already be making progesterone itself so maybe it doesn’t need the extra so early? If you have had a consultant who knows your history say take progesterone 48 hours after ovulation (which I am guessing is 3 days pre-transfer?) then I would go with his recommendation. The nurse could be talking generically whilst the consultant would be tailoring his advice for you. Good luck with this round. I found that even though I’d been through it before with no 1, the emotional rollercoaster was just as intense when we were trying for no. 2 x
