High progesterone level; transfer deferred. Is this a good thing?

I am due to go in for egg collection this Thursday and got a call from the clinic today to say my progesterone level was too high and due to this my transfer would need to be delayed.

Has anyone experienced this before and what was the outcome?

We are paying for this cycle and the clinic seem to monitor very closely, whereas my NHS funded round not so much and did not work at all- wondering if this has always been an issue for me.

Felling pretty low - just wanted to get this completed.

Aww so sorry to hear this. I had my fresh transfer cancelled but it was because my lining was bad, and I had OHSS. We froze all. It was hard at the time but it did give me time to recover. All the waiting is torture though. What was your progesterone level? If you don’t mind me asking?

The doctor didn’t actually say what the level was but did inform me that it’s unlikely the embryo would implant due to the high levels of progesterone. Suggestion is that we freeze and have a FET when ready. Like you say, the waiting is just torture and so many hurdles - really does challenge you. Have you had your FET yet? How many embryos do you have frozen? All this waiting is now making me worry about everything 🥴 xx

Yeah, our retrieval was April last year, we froze 9. Have transferred 2 so far. One chemical, and one negative 😕 In the middle of my FET of our third 🤞

I think it’s definitely a good thing - you have to trust your clinic in these scenarios no matter how frustrating it is

I have also seen a lot of people get their BFPs from more FETs than fresh rounds and there is a school of thought that says your body is less battered and bruised and has had time to heal so you are in great shape to encourage implantation (not a medical opinion!)

Ivf is full of curve balls, good luck with your EC and hope you get loads to freeze xx

Hi lovely,

My progesterone was through the roof (400 & something) and they still went ahead with the transfer which then ended in a chemical. I’d definitely say it’s a good thing you’re now doing a freeze all. I know it can be disheartening but just concentrate on getting back to normal (after all those bloomin’ hormones) and then you can prep your body for FET.

Good luck ❤️

Awww Im so sorry, its so disappointing but you want your body to be in the best shape possible to accept an embryo. They are so precious and not worth risking.xx
