Hi ladies

We are thinking of going back to our clinic around sept/Oct to try for another baby.

Just wondering how it works getting your meds from places like Asda. Do you get a prescription from your clinic and then speak to a pharmacy to get it ordered in? Do you normally pay a rate for dispensing as well as the cost of the medication on top?

Sorry totally new to the private process and need to start thinking about what to save.

Hope everyone is keeping safe x

Have you got frosties or will it be starting again from scratch? We're lucky enough to have a couple on ice still and were thinking of trying a transfer towards the end of this year but God only know what will be happening here by then!!

We have got one frostie left and I had a medicated FET last time so shouldn’t need that much meds really xx

Hello. I went to Asda to order mine and was called to pick up after 5days. Cheap and safe. Give them a trial

Thank you. That’s helpful x

Hi there. I did Asda too. Much cheaper. You need the original prescription . You order and pay for your meds and collect the next day after 12. If you need needles remember to check the size and order those too. Best of luck

in reply to leo1980

Thank you. Do you then pay an additional fee on top for them to dispense the meds? X

No. You just pay for your meds. No extra costs.

Asda dont make a profit on meds but depending on if you are doing fresh or frozen it might be worth getting a quote from a few place online too. I found Asda the best (I was doing an FET), I rang them and got a price which they came back to me with after I told them what I needed and just handed the prescription in to order.xx

Thank you! I’ll be doing FET. If it’s the same as last time it will only be pessaries, progynova and the decaptynl injection (spelling lol). Just when I got a quote about starting my FET the lady said £1495 for the FET and then between £800-£1500 for meds. I can’t imagine those few things would come to that much!! X

No way do they come to that! I cant comment on the decapetyl injection as I havent down regulated for ages, I used to get prostap which I think was around £100 (maybe a bit more) but that wasnt Asda. The costs I got from Asda was for cyclogest 400 at £12.96 per box (15 in a box). Progynova 2mg was £7.30 per box (84 in a box). Hope that helps.xx

Have to agree with this, that seems like a crazy high quote for a FET! Only thing I can think of that could push up the cost is if they need to put you on progesterone injections. Did you have those last time? I was on lubion for mine and it cost around £70 per week so if it’s successful, you’ll be on those until your 12 weeks so can add £600-700 to your cost. The rest of the meds like Cinderella said, cyclogest and Progynova are pretty cheap xx

in reply to KiboXX

No was only on pessaries and can’t imagine it is likely to change. Maybe the lady forgot I was asking about FET as was only an admin lady I spoke to x

Yeah sounds like a fresh cycle quote as mine were always around £1000-£1500 for drugs. I was pleasantly surprised by how cheap a FET is in comparison but I think that’s because the stims are the really expensive ones so makes a big difference not having them to pay for! Good luck xxx

in reply to KiboXX

I did think it was probably high but if I over save that’s not too bad in the long run lol x

in reply to Cinderella5

Thanks for that. That’s really helpful to know. I didn’t think they would be that expensive. At least it gives me a goal to aim for money wise xx
