I was surprised my clinic booked us in (a month ago) for a first consultation this Friday.
I just received an email now saying that they can’t do consultations in person and that I can have my consultation via Skype or Zoom. This is so frustrating and I’m only at the start of the journey!

Hmmm. I don't know the process for new patients, but you might have to have a Zoom consultation just to get the ball rolling? I don't know. I do agree that a semen test can't be done at home, though! x
Sorry, FrancyItaly. This must feel like another step back and now you aren't 100% sure where you stand - when tests will be done etc. Just another hurdle on this awesome journey. xxxx
Hi that is the standard now due to the virus. They have to do this to show they are minimising risk.
All appts that don’t require physical presence will be remote. So except for scans, blood test, retrieval etc everything else by zoom/phone.
My clinic said if not happy with the new operations because of virus you can defer your treatment but they have no choice but to operate like this at the moment
Hi FrancyItaly. So sorry to hear this, but try not to dispair too much, as they will be able to sort quite a bit with Skype or Zoom contact. Some scans can still go ahead, so at least they're trying to get some official stuff sorted. You're in the system so fingers crossed. Thinking of you. Diane
Hi. Well I do wish you both well with it all. Diane
Hi Francy i think you should go ahead with it. I remember my first consultation was only talking through our situation (and just because i was on the right day of my cycle they did a scan otherwise i would have come back) it took weeks for my husband to hve his semen analysis (this is 2019 btw) so not all is lost. Is this a new cycle and new clinic? If yes you are fine xx
I had my first Skype consultation last week. The only difference is obviously u are in your house and they are somewhere different but they didn’t say or do anything different than if you face to face with them.
They organised for my OH to drop his sample off instead of ‘providing’ it in the hospital even though we live about 70 miles away and it took us over an hour to get there!
I wouldn’t worry about the zoom call at least you and me are both moving forward when you hear of other people’s stories on here.
Good luck!
My clinic has given me a face to face consultation next week! Maybe try another clinic? I’m sure your find one that will see you now xxxxx
