Hi ladies, hope everyone is staying safe in these crazy times and my heart continues to go out to those like me who have had their cycles cancelled.
I today have got the second lot of NK Cell test back that I had at Warwick Uni hospital the first came back normal the second low, I remember the professor saying low is harder to treat ( lucky me hey 🙄😂)
Just wondering if anyone has had similar results and can offer advice or what treatment was recommended?
I have a call with the professor this Friday but any advice prior would be welcomed and appreciated
Hi Coral. I had exactly the same tests at exactly the same venue. Mine came back low on both occasions. I would had z few recommendations which you'll get on Friday. The only one I really followed was I didn't use baby aspirin while my lining was thickening. They recommended a scratch which I didn't bother with (very little evidence they work). They recommended progestrone (obviously). That's about it. But low NK cells are better than high. I am very early in my pregnancy so still not out of the woods. But I'm pregnant. It can happen for you. Dont feel to freaked out by these results like I was.
Thanks for the reply Rainbowhope, firstly congratulations just read ur journey and am so pleased for you after a tough and long journey wishing you every success and a happy and healthy pregnancy. When you say low nk cells are not as bad has having high what is the difference and why is that? I know high cells sometimes see the embryo as a foreign body and can try and fight it off almost but not sure what low nk cells mean.? I thanks xx
So tbh I dont know what low NK cells mean either. I think the professor said the endometrial lining needs a few NK Cells to kind of create slight friction in the lining which can assist in implantation. Too high, as you've said, attacks embryo as a foreign body but too low doesnt create enough friction in the lining which can help implantation. But I specifically remember the professor saying low are better than high. The professor will make specific recommendations in your case. But just dont let these results bring you too down. I remember wishing I had high NK Cells so that I would know my issue and could fix it! Just remember that embryo quality coupled with the right dose of progestrone are more important than NK Cells.
Thanks Rainbowhope that is really helpful to know will try and keep positive as you say when you hear the results you worry but hopefully with one lot being ok that is a positive. Thanks and all the best xx
