Does anyone know when they start looking at transferring 2 instead of 1 embryo?
Im 39 and just about to have embryo 3 out of 7 put back.
Its never been discussed with me so just wondering?

I have always had two and I am 32 it’s your choice ... you should be able to have two if you want just risk of twins xxx
Many clinics will do a single embryo transfer to lessen the risks to mother and baby . we were advised that if the embryos are of good quality they will only do one, if they are of a lesser quality they would then consider two.
We had a double transfer on our first fet as we only had two fertilised day 2 embryos that were middle quality, this was unsuccessful.
We had a single top quality day 2 embryo transferred following a second fresh round who is now fast asleep on my chest after his night feed.
Good luck with your future rounds
My clinic wouldn’t let us do 2 until our 3rd attempt and even then we had to be slightly pushy about it! I was 38 xx
Thanks ladies. Good to know. Well i have 5 left at the moment so will do 1 as planned this time then i have 4 hopefully still so i can decide if to start doubling up! I need to speak to them though, i did wonder if they wouldn't with them being so good quality (allegedly!) 🤞🏻
I think due to your age and risk of miscarriage they will only do the one. This is what I was told and I am 38. I've got one currently transferred back last Saturday and the other 2 were frozen all were of good quality but they'd only put the one back in.
I think the bottom line is your choice. On my first round in 2016 I had two, and one stuck. When I had my second round in 2018 my consultant (who I loved and was amazing) said there was no increased chance of success with using two instead of one, but that there was a significant increase in risk with a multiple pregnancy, so we opted for one and were lucky that one stuck too. Have the discussion with your consultant as age and your specific circumstances will influence their recommendation. I was also 39 second time round.
