Beauty question for you

Hello ladies, hope you are all well.

I have a beauty question for you (yes I know, silly 😝)...I am someone that loves her beauty products, moisturisers, face masks, scrubs, body scrub/creams....and I was wondering...are there any restrictions about particular ingredient in these products, do you know?

All these IVF hormones have given me pigmentation on my face, and for that I use vitamin C to brighten and retinol (which I have now stopped as harmful in pregnancy)

Cant find much online and companies I’ve emailed they’ve asked me to check with my doctor (excuse me GP, can I use Dior’s moisturisers in pregnancy? 😂😂😂*gets kicked out of the surgery*)

Thanks for your advice as always! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Dear Issy , dr rhinocat says you should care about chemicals on your skin irrespective of having baby lobsters within 🦞 🤣😂

Good lifestyle choice no matter what 💖

The tropic range is all natural ? Have you any of it?

Also deodorant contains aluminium 😱 this is a whole other rollercoaster 🎢 to be getting on! Are you sure you wanna? 🤷🏼‍♀️😂😂😱😱😱

Have you any vegan friendly stuff ?

That’s a sure sign to be paraben free etc . I’m sure someone can advise.

I’ve just quit all that stuff except for Nivea soft on my face after a shower 🚿

Each to their own though .

Ps method cleaning products are great too 👍🏻

in reply to RhinoCat

Nope don’t know the Tropic range! But I tend to use parabens & silicons free products...yeah I’m lost on deodorant at the moment! I use the Sanex sensitive but these days it makes my armpits hitch 🙈🙈🙈so I’m annoyed with that!

Yes I know method! Thanks Dr Rhinocat 💋💋💋💋

There is one in boots that is alum free but I can’t rem the name .... my mum was told to use it after her breast cancer treatment . Shouldn’t be too hard to find. Natural deo are an option but they don’t counteract sweat situation so you might not like it. Maybe there’s a sensitive skin one that would be easier on your skin ?

I’ve just started using a new natural paraben/aluminium free deodorant by Dr Hauschka (the rose one). It is a bit pricey but so far so good. Although I have to admit, it has not really been put to the test much yet as I have mainly been sat on my arse binging Netflix since I started using it, so perhaps not really a fair review 🤣 xx

Well I really doubt you can use Dior as those kind of brands are full of chemicals and are not even great when not pregnant! Search for Roche Posay (the face cream i have is safe to apply on baby’s skin too) or The Ordinary as I know some products are good in pregnancy. Online you can find many other products that are safe pregnancy.

in reply to FrancyItaly

Great, Dior is one of my fave brands 😂😂😂Yep I know Roche Posay and the Ordinary- will look into those thanks Francy 😉💋

in reply to FrancyItaly

Hi Francy! I’ve emailed Dior and they said their products are safe to use in pregnancy 😃it’s the only brand that gave me such a response though (Chanel, Murad & La Mer asked me to check with my GP) xx

FrancyItaly profile image
FrancyItaly in reply to

Lol, that’s nice of them! It won’t cause damage to the pregnancy, as all other products you can find anywhere but I’m not a fun of chemicals. I use apps to check the ingredients of every product lol

I do love my Dio perfumes though!

in reply to FrancyItaly

Which apps do you use? X

Think Dirty and Greenity x

in reply to FrancyItaly

Ta!!! I’ll have a look! Xx

in reply to FrancyItaly

Had a look at think dirty and it seems most of their products database are products made in the US, not UK? Would we have (as in UK) different regulations as part of the EU (not for long now!)? I know that products in US have a slightly different formulations which depends on their law... what do you think? Xx

FrancyItaly profile image
FrancyItaly in reply to

That’s very interesting. I’m not sure about the regulations to be honest, but I like to use products that are organic or very close and most of the time I have nothing at all on my face. Greenity used to be called ‘È verde?’ and I thought it was italian, is it American? Anyway I think there is no reason to be crazy about it, think of all the products our mums used 30 years ago and here we are 😅🤦🏻‍♀️ if they work for someone’s skin, pregnancy or not they will be fine! I’m a lost case as I even colour my hair with only henna powder but that’s a whole different story 😅

in reply to FrancyItaly

No no Greenity is italian, was only referring to think dirty! Yes you’re right re our mums, and here we are 😃I’m just trying to get an understanding on what’s best to do....But don’t want to go crazy and flip out about everything. My daily make up is really light and unless I go to work or out I keep my beauty daily routine to a minimum...gonna be hard not to have shellac on my nails though ahahaha xx

FrancyItaly profile image
FrancyItaly in reply to

Is Shellac unsafe? I thought it was ok do it unless it makes you feel nauseous. Anyway I wouldn’t do it in the first trimester, or maybe first and second 😅

KayCan in reply to FrancyItaly

You can still have shellac providing you get it done it a well ventilated salon and the fumes don't make you feel sick. I've been getting mine done all the way through my pregnancy, just stopped a few weeks ago purely because when I go and give birth they like you to have removed it, something to do with oxygen saturation when you're hooked up to the BP monitor, and also if a section is needed X

in reply to KayCan

Thank you Kay this is very helpful! 😃I hope you and baby are ok ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi Issy I think during pregnancy it is best and safest to keep a simple routine. My obstetrician told me that we should forget about anti ageing or brightening while pregnant (he also said forget about dieting hehe). Vitamin C is safe to use but many Vitamin C products contain other undesirable ingredients including mineral and essential oils. I am really into my skincare too so it was actually quite refreshing during my pregnancies that I only had a minimal routine to follow. However you might be interested in this maternity set that I saw online (no idea if it is any good though):

in reply to Mmmpudding

thanks Pudding!! mmm forget about diet is soooo not gonna happen ahahah if I lose control I'll gain God knows how much weight (have recently lost 2.5 stones!)

Hi Issy. Have no idea. Hadn't even thought about this! But just wanted to say I'm sure you're beautiful, and you will be even more beautiful from the "pregnancy glow" soon too! Very unhelpful, I know! 😁

in reply to ttcemmie

Awww such a sweet message, thanks Emmie <3 so far I don't feel like I glow very much ahahah

It may be an unpopular opinion, but, for me, I decided that fertility treatment had taken enough from me without it taking away the beauty and hair care products I love. I used dior whilst pregnant and my little boy is now 18 months old, happy and healthy. I completely understand why people choose to change to natural products but it wasn’t something that really worried me x

KayCan profile image
KayCan in reply to stephkp

I have been exactly the same. I've just used what I've always used. I have kept away from essential oil but not been particularly cautious with beauty products.

in reply to KayCan

I'll do a bit of research and see what I found- I don't think I will re-buy every single product though! Thanks Kay xx

Hi hunny, ditch the toxins dior or not lol, they are bad news! I stick to bare minerals, they are the only top brand that are totally safe. I also use bella piere, also 100% safe. Their lipsticks are fab! Burts bees do some lovely skincare products as do dr organics. Also if you look on amazon there are a ton of companies that make natural skincare. X

in reply to Purplewitch18

thanks purple - I use the powder from bare minerals it's soooo good! xx

Purplewitch18 profile image
Purplewitch18 in reply to

Yep its really nice! Their lip colours are nice but dont last all day, bella piere ones are kiss proof and literally do last all day. You can get the sets with the liners and liquid lipstick. Their eyeshadows are good too. Always check out stores like tk maxx, you van usually find some in there bit cheaper xx

Oh I didn’t know about the retinol. I use the ordinary brand. I’ll also stop 😬

Following rhinocat for all future beauty advice 😂😂 x

I honestly haven’t changed anything and I don’t plan on stopping having gel polish either but I think it’s all about what makes you happy and comfortable. If it would help your anxiety to swap some products than there is no harm in that. So whatever makes the days a bit easier for you ♥️ xxx

in reply to KiboXX

You’re so right Kibo, thank you❤️Hope you’re well hun!

Pasta and bread will be your firm new friends. Any healthy eating ideas I had have gone firmly out the window! Just eat what you can, when you can and don’t worry about the rest x

in reply to KiboXX

Do you have that feeling of being constantly full too? Like when you’ve eaten too much on Xmas day 😂but really I had a slice of toasted bread lol

It’s really up to you but I will say that the best things to put on your skin are natural products like organic coconut oil for skin cleansing and chemical free soaps a lot of commercial products (not all)have ingredients you don’t understand now that’s saying something you really are paying for name and packaging I’m not joking I used to be same when it comes to make up but if you actually convert some of it you will find things like metals and all sorts which does absorb into your body so it’s really your choice if you want to use it.theres been a lot of research now into make up and more brands are putting more natural ingredients into their palettes etc when I did my make up artistry course we were made to take all lipsticks out the packaging do that and you will really see what your paying for lol 😂luckily with Mac you get money off when you take the bullets back x

in reply to Afrohair

Thank you hunnie xx gonna be difficult to put down all my palettes ahahaha I had just started learning how to do my eyeshadows (at the tender age of 39 😂😂😂) xxx hope you’re ok ❤️❤️❤️

Afrohair profile image
Afrohair in reply to

I know what you mean I’ve just stopped buying the last year or so as I’ve read so much on it especially since I’ve been ill aswell like those palettes with animals in them could impact on your hormones.i went to America a few year ago and binged in Sephora came back with a lot of Anastasia Beverly Hills and the naked palettes but I don’t wear make up much now like I used to as I don’t work on counters but I wouldn’t walk out house without a cut crease and contour then pmsl .ive settled down a bit now I haven’t stopped wearing brands but I just don’t wear them as often and said when it runs out I will look for alternatives I love my bobby brown highlighter and don’t know what I’ll replace it with eek but I’ve heard James Charles has a good one out that’s supposed to be natural but I’ve not looked into it just saw it on a review so wether it’s true or not I’m not sure as his ones are really pigmented x

in reply to Afrohair

Omg I looove Anastasia Beverly Hills I got the Norvina palette at Christmas colours are so pigmented 😍but we are beautiful even make up free 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂right? How are you darling? Xxx
