Day 5 of Bemfola

Evening all

Have been a quiet member of the community so far but wanted to check if how I am feeling is the norm!

This is our first round of IVF and it's all very new.

I've had 5 of my Bemfola jabs so far and am booked in for a day 10 scan to see how those eggys are doing.

My concern is that I'm only half way through but do feel acutely aware of my ovaries. I'm on quite a high dose...300 due to my low amh of 8.5 for my age (I'm 34). When do people start to feel the side effects of the stims?

Thanks and best of luck to you all xx

Hi Alocins,

That’s totally normal! I normally start feeling my ovaries around this time as well, they are working hard for you so it’s nothing to worry about.

I’m actually the same age as you and have a very similar AMH if that helps 😊 x

That does help! At least I know I'm not the only one out there 😊. Are you having treatment at the moment?xx

I am yes. I had three rounds at a previous clinic, different drugs protocol. Wasn’t happy so moved for my current round and was on same as you, Bemfola 300 and I’m currently 5+3 waiting for my first viability scan 😊xx

Congratulations! Fingers crossed for you and your scan. Hopefully this regimen works for me too 🤞xx

I didn’t really feel many side effects while doing the stims besides bloating in the last days... but felt more emotional around day 8, but that’s understandable given the situation.

Just fyi, my experience of the retrieval was so much easier than I had decided in my head. Please try to think positively, this whole process is much harder on the mind than on the body 🤍

Thank you! I am feeling very anxious about retrieval, I have a friend who was under general anaesthetic but my clinic sedate instead so quite scared!xx

I had three under general and one under sedation and I honestly couldn’t tell the difference! Try not to worry xx

I was so anxious the week before. I was sedated for my retrieval but I was only uncomfortable during it, not in pain.

I spent the day on bedrest and was very bloated for 2 days.

So in my experience it wasn’t as big of a deal as I made it up to be.

Good luck to you all! 🤍

Totally normal, I think I started to notice my ovaries by around day 3 of stims this go. But later on other cycles. Think it just differs person to person and on different dosages. Lots of luck for your day 10 scan xxx

Thank you, it's weird to be so aware of them, it's like two fists in my abdomen. Thanks for the luck 🤞xx

Totally normal! I have had Bemfola 450iu for 5 days and now on Menopur 450iu until scan on Wednesday. I can certainly feel my ovaries so to speak!! It's difficult when you do IVF as you notice every little twinge. Good luck!!

Thank you! Hope it's going well for you xx
