5+1 wks and hcg only 2057 and only doubled in 51 hours. Anyone else have low numbers not quite doubling in 48 hours but successful?

Fingerscrossed38 profile image

I am 17dp5dt so 5+1 weeks.

My hcg has been doubling within 48 hours except for today's! It only doubled in 51 hours and I'm worried 2057 is far too low an hcg level.

Anyone have a story where they are doubling then it slowed down and not quite doubling within 48 hours at 5 weeks and go on to have a healthy pregnancy?

Freaking out.

Plus I don't have a single symptom, not one from the start!

I think the 48 hours is roughly the time it takes to double, but a couple of hours more or less isn't bad news. It's an awfully anxious time waiting for that first scan but lack of symptoms doesn't mean anything, and they can come and go if/when you do get them so try not to read too much into it - difficult, I know!! Hope time doesn't drag too much until your scan and hoping for a happy, healthy pregnancy for you xxx

Thanks missy, the waiting is relentless. Always waiting for something it's awful.

Hopefully it's not the end but time will tell xx

I remember my hcg was around that much at 17 dpt with my second. I started testing every 2 days from day 10 and it did double. 51 hrs is just a few hrs more than 48 so may be ok. Some wrbsites say atleast a 60 percent or something around there rise in 48 hrs. All the best

I have always been told it needs to double between 48-72 hours so it sounds like it’s fine to me! Congrats on your pregnancy x

Hi,

The HCG numbers can Double every 48h to 72h so I would say if yours double in 51h it’s fine.

Symptoms do come and go and in the beginning it can be hard to notice them. I guess my first symptoms Were due to the side effect of the meds I was taking like progesterone.

Hang in there your scan will be there soon!

Hope you have a healthy pregnancy

Xx

I am 28 weeks and never had any symptoms, except now heartburn. The answer may only lie in repeated bloodwork. Best of luck!

Oh no symptoms! I rarely hear that. People always say "apart from the cramping, sore boobs, running to loo etc I don't have any symptoms" I definitely have zero so fingers crossed tomorrow's bloods aren't too bad xx

Hello .

My hcg started off at 41 and then went up as my pregnancy progressed I now have twin girls who are almost 2 .

Try not panic as the hcg numbers can vary so much from one pregnancy to another xx

They doubled but not necessarily doubled with in 48 hours or 72 hours . I had blood tests once a week up until 8 -9 weeks to make sure . Then had an early scan x

Ok I guess it'll be what it'll be but just don't want to be fooled into a false sense of security 💛

Hi there,

Just to reassure you that once your HCG gets past the 1200 mark the doubling time is actually around 72 - 96 hours so everything seems completely fine (p.s. I was in the same boat and I am now 28 wks pregnant). Wish you all the best!

Awww thanks for the reassurance! I just had my final hcg draw taken so hopefully this afternoon sees a steady increase. Congrats on your pregnancy how exciting xx

Thank you :) I've been in HCG hell three times so I know exactly what you're going through. Crossing my fingers for you that you get a nice solid rise to put your mind at rest x

Oh really. Do you remember yours? I dont think I'd be quite so worried if they were higher. At 17dp5dt it was only 2057. I'm trying to prepare myself for a 3410 which will give me 66% doubling time...we're all your scans straight forward? When did you do your first and did you see a heartbeat? I think I read they stop looking at hcg after a certain time so I think I'll likely stop testing it after today's results xx

renee1987 profile image
renee1987

Took me a while to dig up the results ha! But found them: At 12dp5dt they were at 1231, I tested a whole 6 days later and they were at 6741 which means that there wasn't a 48h doubling time (otherwise it would have been 9848 to be exact).

6741 is obviously far off from the 9848 that I was hoping so obviously I panicked big time, but when I spoke to my doc he was really happy with the results.

I had my first scan a week later at 6+2 and there was a heartbeat.

Try not to worry too much about the numbers (easier said than done I know!) the variations are so wide, it really is about the increase. Let me know how the results from today go xx

Awww thanks so much for digging out your results. Gosh I really how the numbers don't mean anything because at 18dp5dt you were 6741 and I was only 2057 at 17dp5dt. Mine are really low. I know everyone is different but I don't think I'd see a heartbeat on Tuesday at the rate I'm going. I'll try to put it aside and wait for my results to come back this evening. My only scan is booked in for 7+1 on 31 Dec. Not sure if I should bring it forward or not because I haven't got anything else to wait for between now and then...Thanks again xx

Please do stay positive, i've read many times that once HCG level is between 1500 - 2000 then there's a good chance that "something" can be seen on ultrasound. I imagine your results from today will determine when you go for your first scan (but perhaps avoid doing it on the 31st Dec? A day of celebrations adds extra pressure I find). Good luck with everything, I truly hope you get the results you want x
