Thoughts please! (HCG/no symptoms)

Hi,

Polling opinions because I am a control freak!

I am 6 weeks and 1 day today. Scan next Thursday.

My HCG was doubling nice right up until last Monday with the reading at 4377. I didn’t bother to test after Monday (more due to my work schedule) on Wednesday, I had a slight headache, and mild discomfort in my back - closer to kidney area. So on Friday, I went into a walk in clinic and did a repeat HCG. It was 8086 which looks like it doubled but it obviously didn’t double in the 48 hours - more like 96 hours.

I have had no symptoms at all. No bleeding. (I didn’t have any on my previous pregnancy which turned out to be an empty sac) needing medical management. Clinic has booked me for a scan on Thursday and won’t book any sooner so my question is, drawing on your experience does it look like the embryo development is slowing down? (Based on the HGG not being high) and lack of symptoms.

Should I bother with another HCG test?

I can’t move the scan day. I can’t even get an independent scan earlier this week as I am booked solid (sigh) with work but I know you ladies will know what to say and what to do to make myself feel better!

thank you

as I understand it HCG doubling reduces to every four days between 6-8 weeks so I would say you are bang on track.

I didn’t really get any symptoms until closer to 8 weeks and then only sporadically so I wouldn’t worry about that.

I know it’s so hard but try to think positive. I gave birth to my daughter after six miscarriages- it can be ok!!

Congratulations xx

hcg levels definitely slow down after reaches certain point so not as worthwhile doing these tests as regularly! It might make you more paranoid, do you have anything that you could distract yourself to run and make the week go faster. I found this period awful waiting through it, and it’s even worse than the initial 2ww when you’ve had miscarriages etc 😢

Hello thank you so much for your response! I won’t be doing any more HCG tests or frantic googling until scan day which doesn’t seem that far away now… it’s one hurdle after the other…

I didn't have any symptoms until the start of this week (7 weeks pregnant), and even now while the fatigue is my constant companion, the nausea only seems to occur every other day. So it may still be too early, or you may be one of the lucky ones and not get any symptoms at all. No two pregnancies are the same. I know it's hard, but try to stay positive. Good luck with everything

Thank you so much for your kindness! And reassurance. It means a lot! 6 weeks and 2 days today so Uber early! Just thought I would ‘know’. I am being very silly obviously

Hcg doubling time slows down after the first 6 weeks. Your numbers are looking good. Relax, breathe. I wish you a healthy pregnancy. xxx

thank you! It looks like it slowed down 5 weeks and 3 days ( but I also understand once it gets over 6000 it does slow). I appreciate all the kindness and support and will post an update on Thursday to let everyone know how I get on! You guys are so wonderful

Hey! All ok! Had Scan last week - and intralipids. Probably will do a reassurance scan mid week if I can get an appointment. How are you?

I’m hanging in there. Our second beta didn’t double so we did a 3 on Friday.

25/3 - 317

27/3 - 476

29/3 - 1168

We have to get a scan this Wednesday to make sure everything is in the right place. Praying that it is. We just don’t know why 2nd beta didn’t double then on the 3rd jumped so high! I’m thankful for that, so taking one day at a time!

I’m glad you are doing well! Praying that all continues to grow strong!!!
