Scan before ivf?
Hi Eram12
They scan before they start any treatment to make sure there is no unknown complications like endometriosis also they may be able to see how many follicles you have on a normal cycle it basically just gives them a better insight to what they are dealing with.
Hope this helps xXx
Hi I had more than expected why do they count follicles? X
It’s just a good indication of how you may react to the stimulation drugs that you have follicles there ! But they only see follicles depending on when they scan ! xXx
Thanks xxx
If you have lots of extra follicles you may have PCOS or PCO. Your hormone levels will help them determine which one. It can help them plan your ivf protocol and meds - if you do have either of those they will probably put you on the short protocol (they did with me). Apparently if you have PCOS or PCO in can increase your chances of OHSS and short protocol reduces this.
Hi I asked the nurse if the scan is ok. And she said it’s fine I had 9 follicles. She didn’t mention PCOS or PCO. I am on a short protocol anyway did u have this?
Agree with Hopefulholly, also checking there are no cysts on ovaries, lining looks 'normal' etc x
