How exciting! Yet daunting, I have not reached that stage yet.

How much are they charging you

Hello and welcome!!

Is it your first fertility appointment or IVF appointment??

I imagine the doctors will go over your history; how long you have been TTC, menstrual cycle, relevant past medical history. Then they might take some bloods and maybe an internal ultrasound.

My advice is get a notebook and bring it with you. It’s super easy to get overwhelmed with info and numbers. I still refer to mine and I have been under the fertility clinic for 18months now.

My other piece of advice is getting educated about the IVF process! The HFEA (ivf regulators) website has loads of great Information. Books such as ‘get a life’ or ‘it starts with the egg’.

There is so much support on here!

Good luck with your journey!!

Xx

We have had all the tests done (bloods, follicle tracking, X-ray for tubes, sperm analysis) with fertility specialist at home town but they don’t do private patients so going to Gateshead QE.

This is our first private IVF apo.

Thanks so much for your advice will defo taken notes 📝

My advice which I found saved us time and money was to have my files relating to my infertility history (tests, operations results etc) to be made available to my consultant prior to the 1st appointment. At least we had somewhere to start and wasn’t repeating investigations that had already been done.

Ask as many questions as you can as you probably won’t see your consultant face to face again until transfer day. (We didn’t)

At my clinic I mainly communicated back and forth with ACU nurses unless I email the consultant direct.

Hope all goes well x

Thanks so much, how long is the process from 1st apo to the actual transfer?

We could have have started with my very next menstrual cycle but decided to start 3 months later as we wanted to try a course of pre- seed vitamins to boost sperm count before going straight for ICSI.

Still ended up doing ICSI as it didn’t make that much of an improvement to his sperm.

Baseline scan & Meds started day 2 of my following cycle (with many scans and egg collection in between) and finally transfer was on Day 18.

Time will fly bye once you get going... it’s the 2WW that’s the drag 😩
