Cetrotide injections

Just done my first one, it’s come up red and lumpy and I feel sick all of a sudden - is this normal?!

Hi there, I had the exact same reaction, I think after the first or second time I used it. I spoke to the nurse about it and she said it was normal but if it keeps happening then speak to the clinic. I then made sure i had had breakfast or something to eat before hand and that helped so much with the sickyness.

You will get a reaction on your skin, that's normal it is an irritant x

Also dont have to much dribbling out the needle, the more you get on your skin the worse the reaction. Use an antibacterial wipe to wipe as much as possible off afterwards x

I remember this injection did hurt more and left a bruise. I didn't feel sick though...keep an eye on things. If it reacts badly it could be an allergic reaction. But if it's just red and a lump appears that's pretty normal xx

Yes, the redness/heat is normal. I was worried the first time too. I never experienced nausea but could that be because you were nervous? It's enough to make you feel ill each time you have to learn a new injection so it might well make you feel sick. I got my husband to do mine. Take some deep breathes and put some relaxing music next time and hopefully that will help x

Try rubbing an ice cube on your skin before and after the injection (it numbs and helps disperse the cetrotide under your skin so it's less bumpy). Someone on here gave me the tip and it really helped me with the stingy jabs. They're never easy but you'll become a pro! Your first one is done! 👍🏻 xx
