Blood test confirmed BFN this morning on my first attempt. Harder than I thought it would be, feel like I'm grieving - is this normal? 😔

Oh so sorry to hear this Littlepeax. This is my first cycle too and I had my blood test this morning and don't get results till later this evening. I'm trying to prepare myself for bad news as I know it's unlikely to work first time but I've still built it all up in my head and not sure how I will cope. Sending you a huge hug xxx

Ohh I'm so sorry ♥️♥️♥️ it really is a horrible pain, I totally understand xxx hope your ok? I've been crying so much but good to let it out xxx

Keepingfaith85 in reply toLittlepeax

I'm not normally much of a crier but can't seem to stop at the moment. I think you are right though that's it good to get it out. We go through so much and it's horrible not to have good news at the end of it all xxxx

Littlepeax profile image
Littlepeax in reply toKeepingfaith85

Yes exactly, especially when everyone says keep positive. So you try to and think as if you are pregnant and that there is a good chance it will work. Hope you've got someone to talk to, keep strong xxx

Keepingfaith85 profile image
Keepingfaith85 in reply toLittlepeax

Yes, I really did think I was in with a chance because it was a 4AA blastocyst and I felt really different because of the medication... so tired all the time, emotional, hungry and last 2 days feeling queezy. I knew it was most likely to be all the hormones but all the signs were looking so good. I even POAS just now because it feels so weird just to stop the meds, I was worried they might be wrong... obviously BFN but at least I don't feel weird about stopping the meds. I'm gonna have a nice hot bath later and just look after myself. Hope you are okay xxx

Littlepeax in reply toKeepingfaith85

I've missed the hot baths. That is a really good grade, mine was a A/B. Do you have any in the freezer? I had cramps to start with and after they stopped suddenly I was like oh no ..

So hard to tell with symptoms especially with all the medication 😔

I'm ok thank you, my husband has been so great ♥️ it's so hard, but it will make us stronger xxx

Keepingfaith85 profile image
Keepingfaith85 in reply toLittlepeax

Ahh that's nice about your husband, mine has been lovely too!

We are lucky & have 4 more blastocysts in the freezer of varying quality so 🤞🤞one of those sticks. How about you? Do you know what next steps are? Did they say when to expect your period? I'm dreading that 😔

Littlepeax profile image
Littlepeax in reply toKeepingfaith85

Aww that's good, we have 3 in freezer 🌈 I actually came on my period yesterday, although I thought it was spotting as was only small. But started more today which just makes me extra emotional. And it's very painful too as I have endo. I have an appt with a doc next Friday for next steps. But they did say usually wait two cycles before trying again so everything can calm down. Glad your hubby is supportive xxx

Keepingfaith85 profile image
Keepingfaith85 in reply toLittlepeax

Aww that's even worse for you then lovely. At least you get it out of the way! I had mild OHSS so had a freeze all and had to wait 2 cycles so it's been a bit of a wait. It all happens very quickly with the FET though and much easier than all the injections and less scans etc. Use this time to really look after yourself and do all the things you can't do when pregnant.

Good to hear you still have 3 more 😊 It will happen for you and for me too hopefully xxx

Littlepeax profile image
Littlepeax in reply toKeepingfaith85

Aww so more waiting for you 🙄 but exactly bit of time to relax and do the things you cant before you get preg. Yeah lucky we have some in freezer, the injections weren't great.

Thanks so much, yes we both have to stay positive and keep looking forwards - onwards and upwards. Keep in contact. Hope you're ok too. Here if you need a chat ♥️

Aww I'm sorry to hear this lovely. It's totally normal to feel like this. You've invested so much time into this, it's hard to deal with the disappointment. Trust me it will get better. The first cycle is always treated by docs as a "practice run" because they dont know how your body will react. The next cycle(s), they have built a picture of what doses /protocols work best. To get a BFP first time round is really really lucky. The main thing is not to blame yourself and to remind yourself that you've done all you can, it ultimately comes down to luck, whether the embryo will implant. Sending you big hugs xxx

Sorry to hear this. It’s completely normal to grieve, I took 3 week off work after because I just felt so depressed and deflated. Take time for yourself and when your ready try and again. After I started to feel better I went for it straight away. X

So sorry it was a BFN. I understand how devastating it is (unfortunately we’ve had many). It is such an intense process I think it is totally normal (and in fact important) to grieve. Take time to be kind to yourself and keep believing lovely xxxx

I’m sorry you got a BFN, it’s absolutely normal to feel grief, it’s real so don’t be hard on yourself for feeling this way. We enter these cycles with such hope and if it doesn’t work out we’re grieving the loss of that dream. First time success is the exception rather than the rule in the ivf world. There’s a lot of BFNs going around it seems at the moment so you’re not alone, and there’s unfortunately plenty of us here who are multiple BFNs in (I’m at 3 so far). It’s rough as guts but one day at a time we plod forwards until it hurts just a little less. Look after yourself xx

Yes it’s very normal. I felt the same after my first failed IVF. I am 33 with endometriosis. Take care of yourself now. I arranged a follow up appointment quickly after so that we could have a plan in place. Take care xxx

I’m sorry you going through this but the grief, it’s normal. I’ve just had my 2nd BFN.

I feel better after a couple of days, once I am back in my normal routine ... I hope you feel the same. Now and again I have a few tears at random.. I find watching some comedies just helps take my mind of it.. Good Luck for the future x

Littlepeax in reply toLove4spitz

Thank you for your kind message ♥️ I feel very similar to you ... try to act normal and move on but suddenly burst into tears which is hard when you're at work 🤦‍♀️

So so sorry for your 2nd BFN 😔 really hope you're ok. I really never thought I would feel this sad, I have been so positive throughout but it really does hit you hard xxx

P.s yes I like to watch only fools and horses to make me smile lol x

I’m ok thanks, I usually cry when no one is looking 😂 . I’ve been at the gym this morning and helping my husband with his work.

As long as you are busy!

I’ve gone through most of Netflix the ranch is quite nice to watch if you have it.

I hope your second attempt will be a success. In my case I hope it’s third time lucky! X
