Why are men so frustrating!!! And don’t call me stupid!!!

Ok I have a hormonal rant now so I apologise- but I need to vent.

So today I went for my 9 week scan. I went on my own as my husband was working.

All was fine with the scan which is great. Heard the heartbeat and saw the cord forming.

Anyway...... I asked the consultant a question that my husband wanted me to ask which was what are the statistics for Down syndrome for my age? The answer was 1:59 at this stage and in 4 weeks time 1:71. I don’t know why but I was a little shocked at the time.

I get home and he calls me. I tell him the answer to his question and also google it and it is spot on. I then get told by him via someone at work who has a child with downs that the consultant has got it wrong or I just don’t listen because ‘he should of said it’s 1:59,000’. Then I heard them talking in the background and then them laughing. I went crazy!!! I then get another call saying they are googling it and I am wrong, there he is reading out these stats in the thousands. I tell him you must be looking world wide and not the uk. So now I stupid for not listening and getting it wrong.

I then snapped and said ‘well if were there you would know what was said’. That didn’t go well and the phone was put down on me.

I didn’t get it wrong I know I didn’t. Has anyone else been told about stats for the over 40’s in the uk?

Sorry ladies xx

For starters please don’t let his inability to listen to you ruin the fact that you had an amazing 9 week scan with a heartbeat. It’s what you have wanted for years!!

Men get scared in different ways, this might be his. I’m not saying he wasn’t being a total d*** however you knew you were right!

Don’t let him stress you out even more than what you are! Let’s remember that your hormones are though the roof right now and you have taken this to heart more than what you normally would of.

I’m so glad all is well with little one. Xx

Men are total kn**s most of the time!

We’re great thank you, 25 weeks today and we are having a little boy!! I’m so happy!

Oh I miss being on the Ambulance (not allowed while pregnant) I get the pleasure of running the flu clinic and stabbing people.

How are you feeling?!

Hi Emma. I’m 35 and the risk for my age was 1:350 so your figures seem right. We decided to have the test this time round and it came back at 1:324. Some of my friends had theirs back at 1:100,000 so there are some that will have a risk in the thousands once tested. I was worried about my 1:324 result but as a percentage it’s only 0.03% which is extremely low.

I’m glad all was ok with your scan And I hope you have a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy xx

Oh men are so blooming annoying, more so with the pregnancy hormones.

Mine does this all the time and I end up saying ‘if you already think you know the answer then why the bloody hell did you get me to ask the question!!’ 🤦‍♀️.

Just ignore him when he gets home from work, make your own dinner and that’s usually enough for mine to realise he’s been an idiot.

Good news that the scan went well 😊 xx

Hi.. Your stats definitely sound right.. Its not the thousands as your hubby thought.

I know he's been acting a real pain but men are weird creatures maybe it's his way of trying to reasuure himself because he's worried about the stats too..

But you know what, you had an amazing scan today that's what really matters!! Xo

I was pregnant at 39 and it was something like 1/100 originally because of my age then after scan went down to 1/400 because nothing on the scan indicated Downs. I'm in Brazil but I don't see why it would be much different.

Take a breath, it sounds infuriating (my husband also always assumes I haven't understood things because of the language barrier but it usually turns out I'm right!!) But you're at a lovely moment so try to enjoy it together even if he is mansplaining xxx

Have you heard about the NIPT test? It's about £400 but it's non invasive and can detest chromosomal problems. We had it at Mothercare. It's a lot of money but I would do it again as it doesn't lead to miscarriage. Might be worth thinking about if you are worried. Sorry I don't know the exact ratios. I hope you have a problem free pregnancy xxx
