EC booked ... follicles grown ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Monday is the day for EC ...

Tummy feels super heavy (full of follicles) like carrying around boiled eggs!! Anyone else had this?

Have 9 now.. (one is at 26m! Way too big for an egg!) ... but we have a hope to get 6 eggs if Iโ€™m lucky, which is more than what was predicted from my blood tests and my age. Given Iโ€™m 43 .. today I feel fairly blessed ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

However I know some/most of those wont survive as my age is against me .... trying to keep things real and be measured in my emotions, but itโ€™s one of the hardest things to get through hey.

I burst into tears after leaving the clinic ... in the hope and realisation that this might actually happen for us .. but too early for those feelings ...

Keeping everything crossed for the next phase of this roller coaster ride .... happy Friday feelings to you all ๐Ÿ˜˜

xx

Wishing you the best of luck! I did my first EC four weeks ago at age 41 and felt all the same feelings.

Thanks Noodle... I read you had a good amount of eggs from your collection, thatโ€™s a positive for sure.

Keep us posted on your next steps ... so many decisions in this world of IVF ... wishing you a lovely weekend xx

Hi Keirs - our egg number was lower than my Dr thought it would be as I have really high AMH and pcos but the good surprise for us was getting 3 fantastic pgs normal blasts (we were told we would be lucky to get one) from the 5 that fertilised. The moral of the story is quality not quantity! Sounds like you are bucking trends too so all the very best. The next week is stressful as you wait for results but you will get through it x

Thanks Noodleone ... yes Iโ€™m excited at the number of follicles ... but need to remain realist that there may not be eggs in them ... and if there is .. as you say itโ€™s quality ... so hope I get one at least of good quality.

What is PGS normal blasts (Iโ€™m a newbie to all this) ...

So pleased for you that you have 3 .. good luck for transfer xxx

Itโ€™s genetic testing they do before freeze. I donโ€™t think itโ€™s used as much in the UK but is an optional extra here in Australia. They take a biopsy of the embryo or solution embryo sits in to check for chromosomal abnormalities which is one of the key reasons (Iโ€™m told) for miscarriage- especially in older women. We tested 4 and 3 came back good. Itโ€™s contested science and not 100% accurate but itโ€™s given us some additional peace of mind through this crazy process (although I convinced myself we were going to lose all embryos up until the very last minute)

Thanks ... yes Iโ€™ve read that elsewhere but not sure the clinic Iโ€™m with do it ... I will ask though after learning that today. Thanks Noodle ..

I wish you lots of luck for your transfer when you decide ... itโ€™s such a lot for us to go through. Harder than I 1st thought ...

Ps love Australia ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ one of besties now lives there ... beautiful country. Xx

Stay hopeful Kiers27. You have everything to hope for and things are going better than expected. 6 eggs at this stage is great. Big numbers donโ€™t always provide better outcomes. I had 6 collected and 3 make it blasts. Really wishing on a star for you...x

Thanks Tiddly ... yes Iโ€™m praying we get even just one of good quality... think this next week will be emotionally tough ... (and beyond that too of course).

Thatโ€™s great that you had 6 collected and 3 blasts ... I have read your amazing news on your profile.

Massive congratulations ... :)

Do you mind me asking if you transferred more than one blast at ince? Xx

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š and I donโ€™t mind at all.

I transferred 1 egg during my first cycle. It was a fresh transfer. That wasnโ€™t successful.

My second cycle was a natural cycle and 2 frozen eggs were transferred with the result that one stuck. After the failed cycle we just wanted what we hoped were better odds with a double transfer and were confident in that choice. I recognise that we may well have had the same or a different result with two single transfers but I feel like we cut to the chase transferring them both.

It can be an anxious time during the 2ww and it can be difficult not to symptom spot too. Work helped as I think thereโ€™s very little you can do externally to improve the odds following transfer (apart from refraining from the obvious things which can be detrimental to your health) and so in my opinion itโ€™s simply a case of carrying on as usual with a positive mindset. Ultimately do what feels best for you.

Really hope it all works out for you!!!!!! x

Best of luck lovely. Remember it is quality not quantity... it only takes 1 egg to make an embryo... and 1 embryo to make a baby! Xxx

Thanks Kat ... you are right. I hope ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป one of those follicles will even have an egg in it at this stage ... and then hopefully a good quality one from that ...

Have you started Stimms for this cycle yet? Good luck for your nx round xx

Yes probably starting in around 10 days. Had been unsure whether to try again or move to using donor eggs. A lot to get the head around so had a decent break. Decided to move to a new clinic who have thankfully suggested a few different things we can try which feels good. So going again with my own eggs and feeling really hopeful ๐Ÿคž xxxx
