Disaster no eggs. Clinics fault or mine?

Second time, different protocol due to doing embryo testing. Had 3 provisional dates in for egg collection due to having to be careful planned around specialist to carry out biopsy. I responded well to meds and nurse (who wasnt aware of plan) said I looked ready to take booster, this was day 10, but the earliest I could take booster was day 13. They reduced meds, but scan next day (day 11) showed all follicles reaching 22plus with one at 36. Nurse seemed concerned but would check with consultant. Anyway, they kept to plan and day 13 I had booster and in for retrieval 2 days later, but there were no eggs and even think they said ( in my drowsy and upset state) some of the follicles were no longer there meaning I might have released them.

Have to clinic messed up? Would they even admit that? Had I not been doing the testing they wouldn't have let me stim for so long. I'm absolutely gutted.

That sounds really doggy. I have done three cycles and never had this situation. My doctor did say that if follicles are too big, citrotide won't hold them and I will ovulate.

I think you should request the medical records from your hospital. They should have recorded your follicle sizes and amount of medicines. You could then ask an independent professional to make a judgement.

Sorry to hear that. How disappointing to have a good stim procedure but no embryo.

Why was day 13 the earliest you could take the booster?

I agree with Jenny. It sounds as though they failed to revise your plan appropriately as your treatment progressed and so didn’t respond accordingly. You may have been on too high a dosage which was not reduced early enough. You may also not have been monitored closely enough and when you were seen they appear to have overlooked the indicators which perhaps should have led them to consider an earlier egg collection. So sorry. You deserved better if this is the case, although it’s only my opinion based on what you’ve said.

Like Jenny said, ask for you file to be reviewed independently.

Could you try naturally quickly to see if you catch any of the eggs??? I had that in my first round but I didn’t think to try naturally. Xx
