Egg donor clinics - seeking advice

Hello,

My second IVF cycle has failed due to the same reason as the first - poor quality eggs that couldn't be fertilised even with ICSI. The odds of a third cycle being successful are less than 10% for me so my partner and I have decided to go down the egg donor route.

Due to costs and waiting times (local clinic's charging £10k+ and 12-18mths), we're looking to go abroad for treatment. I've read that clinic's in Spain, Greece and Cyprus are popular among those seeking egg donors.

Could anyone please recommend any or give me advice on how to choose? It's all quite overwhelming.

Thanks so much.

I went to Barcelona - I'll PM you.

hfea.gov.uk/treatments/expl... this is a good place to start.

Also think about where is easy / cheap to get to from where you live and the potential cost of accommodation whilst you are there. Some of the prices quoted by clinics includes accommodation, others do not.

Good luck xxx

Thank you. That's a good point. I hadn't realised some clinic's include accommodation. I'll look into that.

We went to Athens, €5500 and this includes the donor drugs. We were around £200 for drugs ontop for me and a couple of scans in a private clinic. Just make sure you are comparing like for like whats included, Donor drugs, freezing of embryos, doing a frozen transfer.....some places are a bit cheaper like Greece, Cyprus & Czech Republic. We found Spain expensive when we costed it up. The other thing to consider....are you being offered fresh eggs vs frozen eggs as eggs do not defrost as well as embryos so that could be offering you a lower chance of success too - article below.xx
