Blood the day after BFP

I've just administered my morning pessary and as Ive pulled out the plastic applicator there was blood on it.

I've had no bleeding at all up to this point. I would be 4 weeks and 4 days at the minute.

One day of happiness I got before back to worrying...so scared now well lose this little one already!!

If it’s any consolation I spotted every single time I used the applicator, never had that problem with Cyclogest. Run it by your clinic just to be on the safe side but they’ll probably tell you that spotting at this stage is quite common xx

Thank you that does help reassure me a little.. Just any blood at this stage isn't nice.. Even though logically I know it can be normal I can't help but panic xo

That’s very understandable xx

It is very common for spotting while taking pessaries, I have had 3 misscarriages and this is my first pregnancy with pessaries and aspirin. I had a scan at 7+6 due to cramping and brown like spotting or more so brown/yellow snot like bits when wiping occasionally however the scan showed a healthy baby and a strong heart beat so spotting is very common. My doctor said pessaries are known for it. Mind you I still freak every single day, every niggle pain and cramp. I hope we all get our little babies 👶

Thank you very much for your reply, so hard not to over react to everything xo

Was it just a little bit? If so it’s really unlikely to be anything other than a bit of irritation. I had bleeding (quite a lot) which was just something and nothing. If you’re concerned you could get checked by the clinic, your local early pregnancy unit or paying for a private scan. So you’ve done the 2ww but you’re now in the 8ww to get to 12 week scan! I’ve found this wait more difficult than the 2ww! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 For you.

Thanks, yeah it wasn't much blood but it's the first I've seen so it freaked me out. I know regardless of the cause there's not much can be done at th is stage anyway. No more since so that's calmed me a bit. I'll not ring unless I get any more. My clinic have me booked in for a scan when I'll be 8 weeks so that's my next milestone xo

So sorry you're having to experience this, and so soon after your BFP. This journey is so difficult and cruel at times. Hopefully this is just some irritation from the applicator but give your clinic a call for some reassurance. Thinking of you and I'm sure all will be ok for you and your baby x

Thank you, its only the emergency number in operation today and since there's been no more blood I don't think it classes as an emergency. It if happens again tomorrow ill ring but hope that's it now xo

I think that's a good idea but hopefully it was just a one off and all will be fine. Take it easy xx

First congratulations on your BFP.

I’ve been pregnant 3 times & have had 2 live births.

I’ve bled in all 3 pregnancies- my first pregnancy I bled heavily like a period at 7 weeks told I was having a threatened miscarriage but had a healthy boy whose 20 years old(!) , second pregnancy was a chemical pregnancy it started with severe cramps bright red spotting which soon progressed into full AF followed by huge blood clots and my third pregnancy I had spotting mostly brown between 6 -14 weeks I even had fresh blood with small clots at 10 weeks but went onto to have my now 2 month old daughter.

It’s just awful seeing any blood when you’re pregnant.

The midwife said to me not to worry ( easier said than done!) unless I had severe cramps & heavy bleeding like filling a pad every hour or less & that some spotting ( which is only there when you “ look” for it) is very common & lots of women will spot & have a healthy baby. Brown spotting my midwife wasn’t even concerned over I was more worried!!!

You can contact your clinic or GP any bleeding in pregnancy should be checked over. The early pregnancy assessment unit won’t be to do a scan until you are 6 weeks but some will run HCG blood tests all CCGs vary. Some will require a GP referral ( mine does) or some early pregnancy assessment unit will allow you to refer yourself.

My GP told me to completely rest up until it eased up.

Anyway I hope it eases soon xoxo

Thanks so much for your reply. I've had nothing since so hoping it was just irritation from the pessary.

If it happens again I'll ring clinic but like you said I know there's not much they can do at this stage but hopefully it won't happen again.

And congrats on your newest arrival Xo
