Retroverted uterus and successfully pregnancies

Hi ladies,

I'm currently going through my ivf treatment. I have a retroverted uterus and stage 4 endometriosis and just a little concerned that having a retroverted womb may increase risks of miscarriage plus having endometriosis. My doctors haven't said this is a problem and it's not something that has been spoken about in much detail. I will ask my doctor but wanted to ask if any of you ladies have had successful pregnancies with a retroverted uterus.

I've never heard that a retroverted uterus makes you more at risk of miscarriage. I guess little research done into miscarriages, womens reproduction organs and endo I general would make any reply to you on this sheer opinion only.

The link between endo and reduced fertility isn't proven and neither is any further risk of endo and miscarriage.

I heard from one senior bgse surgeon that he would recommend dealing with endo first then going to ivf as his opinion was there was a link. However i didn't have time at 38 and one ovary to do that.

I went straight to ivf and had a successful pregnancy. I also have a retroverted uterus.

Doesnt answer your question (but i would ask anyone who does answer what evidence their response is based on) but hopefully it gives you hope x

I’ve just found out that I have a tilted uterus. I’m 9 weeks pregnant.

I read up on it some and the idea that it can increase miscarriage risk has been debunked.

The uterus often tilts back in the 2nd trimester with the weight of the baby. There can be complications if it doesn’t tilt back but it’s rare.

I read lots about successful pregnancies with this condition. I have heard your baby can be more likely to be back to back and need a caesarean but I don’t know if that’s accurate. I plan to ask the consultant about it after my 12 week scan.

Having a retroverted uterus is not a condition its just a normal variation of anatomy and the position of the uterus can change depending on different factors.

In terms of the endo - I'm not sure about how that affects fertility.
