Success after chemical pregnancy?

hoping-for-the-best profile image

After a strong positive last Wednesday the tests have now faded to negative. Still coming to terms with our loss and wondering what it means for my future ability to conceive and sustain a pregnancy. If anyone has experienced a chemical pregnancy and gone on to have success I’d appreciate it if you could share your experience, feeling pretty despondent right now. Xx

Hey hun I had a chemical in April 2017 followed by another one followed by a pregnancy that didn't develop and ended up having medical management followed by another pregnancy that achieved a heart beat at 5+6 but lost at 6 now I'm pregnant 7+3 everything seems to be going well and it's the furthest we've got since my daughter so I'm hoping this is it although it's not a complete success I'm just sharing mine as in progressed further each time since April. Lots of love hun. 💗🤗😘

Thanks Cat, you’ve really been through it, so sorry for your losses 😔 It does sound like this might be your time, especially as you’ve identified what could be causing it and are treating it. I’m so terrified of this happening again, it just takes away any joy from any future BFP. As each try has to be via IVF I think I’m going to look into testing for immune issues etc. I know the clinic will say chemical pregnancies happen a lot but I need answers before doing it again. Rest up and take care of yourself, happy and healthy pregnancy to you xxx

Hey,

I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks followed by 2 chemical pregnancies with my first 2 rounds of IVF. I’m now 28 weeks pregnant from my 3rd round of IVF so you can definitely be successful after, I know at the time you don’t believe it’s possible though.

Xxx

Hi so sorry this has happened to you, I had a chemical then a bfn then my clinic recommended a hysteroscopy and I went to greece to have one with Implantation cuts (like a scratch but deeper more full on!) turns out I had poor blood supply to my womb and so the cuts were needed to get down to good tissue. 3rd go and I got bfp currently 24 weeks pregnant.

Keep going is all I can say and ask your clinic what more you can do xx

Ah congratulations, I’m glad it worked out for you 😊 That sounds very painful but I guess worth it in the long run. Do they not offer that in the UK then? I get the endometrial scratch with every cycle and will continue to do so as the evidence is so convincing with regards to implantation - never heard of cuts though! Xx

i dont think you can have cuts done in UK or not that i have heard of. My clinic said the scratch wouldn't have 'touched the sides' so to speak as it needed to be deeper. i didnt feel a think as you are knocked out so it was fine :) x

I had a chemical pregnancy Christmas 2016, 6 weeks later pregnant again and now have a 5 month old little boy 😀. Only thing I did different 2nd cycle was drink pineapple juice (not from concentrate) everyday in the 2ww as I read about it in Zita West fertility book and I took DHEA 25mg 2x a day till got a positive xx

My first IVF was a chemical pregnancy. I went on to conceive my little boy naturally after a second failed round. Don’t lose hope! Xx
