My husband had a viral infection about 6 weeks ago and have heard some people say that it would affect sperm quality 6 weeks from infection.
Has anyone heard this? I am deciding whether to delay the next round of IVF due to this....

The nurse at fertility clinic told my husband that in case if he fall ill, it will affect his sperm quality.
She also asked him to google about it.
It is best if you call your fertility clinic and take their advice and accordingly make the decision.
She also mentioned, It is generally known that most men produce millions of new sperm every day. However, you might not know that these new sperm take about 2 ½ to 3 months to fully mature. (Just for the info).
Well it's not a sure shot thing that viral infection will affect the sperm of your husband but then that's possible. The main reason is that viral makes the body weak and naturally when the body is weak the sperm quality is affected. So when viral weakens the body... which is quite normal in case of viral infection the sperms may be affected. Well it's the body's own immunity that really decides whether or not the sperms will be affected and if it does then how much will be affected. As the matured sperms that are already there might not even be weakened by the viral... technically you just need a couple of good quality matured sperms to do it all. I think if you're really expectant of the IVF round and there is an option that you can delay the round a bit that would be a good thing to do. Like I said there's no guarantee that your husband's sperms will be affected and that can jeoperdise your IVF ... everything can go simply alright. Also, the suggestion from PP is definitely worthy, ask the clinic and see what they have to say about it.
