Anyone had Endometrioma puncture during EC? Happened today +Ovaries behind the uterus

Hello ladies!

Yes! Egg retrieval was this morning...phew... Done!

I was so scared!

They put me under general anesthesia and it went well. But unfortunately only managed to retrieved 5 out of the 9 eggs because the ovaries were beyond the uterus. That's quite low... disappointed but at least I have something

Question : unfortunately my endometrioma was punctured during the procedure

They want to give me antibiotics but I'm quite reluctant to take them as I've been on an anti inflammatory diet for the past year to try to control my endometriosis and inflammation with great success.

Antibiotics is a big no no! + I'm not keen to take antibiotics around egg transfer and the 2ww

Has any one experienced this?

Of course I'm aware of the possibility of an infection ! I've researched medical studies but not much has been reported on this topic

Congratulations on your egg retrieval!

I had an endometrioma during my IVF cycle and they advised antibiotics even though they didn’t puncture it. I would take the advice from the specialist and take the antibiotics. An infection may delay things and cause more complications.

I think I had the same this round, I ended up having a massive bleed and stitches and they were considering antibiotics but decided against it as I ended up having a 3dt. Masses of luck xx

Congratulations on your egg collection, brill result. I would personally go with the Drs advice, they are the specialists and possibly the benefits would outweigh the risks of taking antibiotics. You have the eggs now so that’s the main thing. Good luck in your choice xx
