A week into 2ww - constantly symptom checking! 😬

Hi lovely ladies

Hope you’re all managing to keep cool in this barmy weather! 🥵

So I’m going to be 7 days post frozen embryo transfer tomorrow and the 2ww madness is starting to set in! I have found myself constantly googling the last three nights and checking symptoms.

So far I have been very bloated, had very mild cramps/twinges/pulling type feeling in my tummy usually in the afternoon/evening, sore boobs occasionally throughout the day and also keep peeing (but that’s probably because I am drinking loads!).

We have been advised to test on day 14 so we have got a week to go yet. I said I wouldn’t test before day 14 as I don’t want to get a false negative or positive but it’s so tempting! 😬

Any advice on how to get through this? xxx

Hi Kat_15, well done for getting 7 days post transfer. It’s always very hard not to go online! I’m on day 9 now. What I found has helped me is hiding my phone completely out of sight and out of reach and do something else I enjoy. Also, just be cautious as during my last cycle I had the symptoms you mentioned above and I was convinced they were pregnancy symptoms but sadly I was very disappointed on test day. The symptoms can also be common side effects of the medication. I’m not saying don’t be positive of course you should be but just give yourself a break from google and symptom checking and do your best to relax and look after yourself. Give some of the mindfulness apps a try. Keep going your half way there xxx

Hello. Wishing you lots of luck for your OTD day! Hope it’s a BFP for you. Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it. xx

I am with you!

I had my transfer yesterday. Loved every second of it, now exhausted and in bed. Emotionally overwhelming 😊

My clinic actually does a one week blood test after an FET so we will be testing about the same time.

Wishing you lots of luck xxxx

Hey Kat. Bless u yep 2ww can drive u mad unfort we def can all relate 😐. It so hard too as symptoms could mean either. I’ve def been convinced one way or another at times and it not been what I expected. I guess all can do is wait and see what the test says. Really hope it good news for u Hun. All can do it try keep self busy and distracted as much as poss and def try to restrain from google. Though we all guilty of it as it so hard not too. Not long now u. Treat ur self to nice things and keep busy but def go easy on urself too as it is an emotionally hard process. Keep checking in. We here to help u through too!! Xx

Thanks lovely, I really appreciate your supportive message. Feeling a bit better today. On the home straight to OTD now! Got lots of nice things planned this weekend which will be good. Wishing you a lovely weekend. xxx

Hi Hun the 2ww is including the age of the Frozen Embryo. So if it’s a day 5 then wait 9 days. If it’s a day 3 then wait 11 days. Only 2 more days! Good luck xx

Thanks for your advice. I have been told my OTD is 2 August so I think I’m going to wait till then so if it’s a BFN I have got a weekend to come to terms with it. Hope it will be a weekend to celebrate instead. ☺️ xx

Hello. Thank you for your message. I’m sure it is all working, I have seen lots of ladies say on here that they had no symptoms and got a BFP! Wishing you lots of luck. We are on the home straight now! xxx

My husband is away next week, so actually going to do my test on the Saturday rather than Friday, another painful 24hour wait! Praying for us both xxx

Hi Kat, the 2ww is so tough and it's so hard not to symptom spot and go a little touch crazy on google! I did that a lot on my first cycle. I've tried really hard not to this time as from what I've read and the advice other lovely ladies have given me, there is absolutely no way of knowing for sure apart from doing that official test!

I had a 5 day transfer and my official otd is today (9 days post transfer). Just had my bloods done and now I wait for the results. Don't think I could have coped waiting for a full 14 days so I really feel for you - i too would be debating about testing early!

You're half way there though - you can do it🤞💪!! Make sure you treat yourself, keep yourself busy and try to distract your mind. I found the mindful ivf app really helpful. Good luck!! 🤞🤩🌈🤞

Hi Kat, I got my very first BFP! So excited, but also a bit cautious. They have increased my progesterone and I'm due repeat hcg on Tuesday to make sure it's going in the right direction. Still cant quite believe it! Hope you have a lovely weekend and a speedy final week and that you get your BFP!! 🤞🍀🌈 xx

Well done being so patient. Fx for your outcome!!

I think either way it’s nothing wrong with testing early or if you wait with this till your test day. Me was always going with testing early, reason being I needed to know myself first getting drugs supplies early and just plan my next few weeks either to grief or to take further precautions to maintain pregnancy. With testing early I’ve never seen myself as failure (especially if bfn) but I’ve consider to prepare myself for bust cycle quicker! I’ve hated to be patient so long, sacrifice a lot and then discover it was for nothing, it was my own and only decision to test early and i was never disappointed with the fact I’ve tested early even with the cycle when I had mmc, at least then I had longer time to enjoy the pregnancy it hadn’t meant to be....but I do understand that some might like to be patient and stick to doctors orders for checking up only at test date, well done with this choice! But this was never me😁

Whatever you choose be happy with your decision, it’s your body and you had so much to go through while on treatment so no reason to put down additional stress with guilt because you have done it early or later!

All the best xxx

Hi Anya. Thank you for your kind message. I’m so tempted to test early but if it negative I know I will be very sad and we have kept next weekend free so at least that way we have time to grieve. So lovely to read you got your happy ending too. ❤️ Thanks again. xxx

Just follow your gut feeling hon! If is better for you to wait just do it! And try to enjoy the time too, after all you are pregnant until proven otherwise 😀

Step away from google 😂 lol it’s so hard not to analyse everything isn’t it! I had a lot of these symptoms before the transfer (assuming it’s the meds) so I can’t really tell either way (even tho I’m only 1 day in😆)

Our OTD is Saturday 3rd Aug, but our clinic doesn’t test on a sat so it’ll be Monday 5th for us. I’m not going to test before than as I want to keep the hope Alive as long as possible 💜🤞🏼

Hope your away enjoying a nice day out, doing something lovely ☀️💕xxx

It’s so hard! I am analysing every twinge! 😆 Fingers crossed for your test date! 🤞🍀 Hope you both get your BFPs! 🤞🤞🤞 I was working yesterday but have a nice weekend planned celebrating friends and family birthdays. Wishing you a nice weekend. xxx

My advice would be (1) keep busy! (2) accept that each and every symptom could be from the meds. And no symptoms is fine too! (3) test on a weekend (you don’t need that stress at work) (4) don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s a difficult wait and there’s nothing you can do except keep on keeping on! It’s normal to find it hard. All the luck in the world to you - fingers and toes crossed xxx

Thanks so much Bridget Rose for your kind advice. Our test is next Friday and we have no plans for the weekend so if it’s negative we have a few days to get our heads round it. The wait is killing me but going to hold out for now! Wishing you all the best too. xxx 🌈🍀🤞

I was the same my first two 2ww. My third I changed my mindset with the help of hypnotherapy (I suffer from anxiety anyway so this process was amplified). Whenever I started to worry I just thought to myself “at this moment in time, everything is ok” and it helped me accept that the symptoms were either meds/pmt/pregnancy and there was nothing I could do about it. I also managed to wait until the otd test which was a lot better. When I got a negative early test in the first two 2ww it made me worse. Unfortunately my third 2ww was also unsuccessful but I felt a lot calmer throughout. My anxiety meant I constantly thought the worst during my first tww but my therapist said to me “is worrying beforehand going to make a negative result any easier?” The answer is no, it’s just as devastating. So my advice, try not to worry and accept the symptoms for what they are.
