Difficulty administering pessaries

Hi all, I had an embryo transferred on Saturday. Today I’ve been having difficulties administering my pessaries as i feel really tight and it feels like something is ‘blocking’ its way. I’ve tried to get it as far up as I can but I’m concerned. This is my first ivf cycle.

Any thoughts? Xx

Sounds silly but have you tried taking a deep breath as your administering? Helped me with something previously

Have you tried the ‘back door’? I find it so much easier and less messy and you don’t have to push in hardly at all x

Is it difficult even when lying down? I found I could get them in ok at home when I could lie down but when I had to do it in the bathroom at work, sitting up, it was much more difficult to get them in. I think it's an area of our body that can get pretty tense so the more you're concerned about it the more tense you get and the more difficult it will be. Next time you're doing it at home really take your time, no rush, no pressure, relaxed breaths and relaxed pelvic floor, see how it goes.

If all else fails, you can probably try doing them in the back passage instead, although check with your clinic first, but I think most brands can be administered either way. I never did but I've seen many comments of people saying it's actually easier that way and they preferred it ;)

One way or another you're going to get the progesterone into your body so no need to stress about it. Good luck with the rest of the wait xxx

Our clinic and my doctor advises the back way, I’ve never tried the other way. I find it fine! Good luck lovely xx

Hi one advice I can give is to angle them 45degree to the right or left, basically don't go straight up - aim for a left or right this worked so much better for me, when you feel they are in push them as far as you can then take a deep breath and imagine you are sucking them inside. X

This was the worst part for me, my clinic told me to put mine up the back rather than the front and it just freaked me out. But, if you do this the back way they only tell you to insert it as it will go so that might help you? I’d give your clinic a call though just so you can get it right ASAP. Xxx

Speak to your clinic straight away. Ask if they can immediately switch you yo injectable progestrone which is, in my opinion, much better to administer
