Hi ladies I actually thought I booked just an Accupuncturist’s appointment but I had actually booked a fertility consult with a practitioner instead. I did have my Accupuncture treatment but whilst we were doing it - I was very intrigued with the concept of Chinese medicine. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Thank you

I had acupuncture for a while before I went through ivf. The idea being that if I wasn't ovulating, the acupuncture would help regulate my cycle. To be honest I had regular periods anyway so my acupuncturist was sure I was ovulating and I used the therapy for my mental state more than anything. It was me time and helped me to feel calm.

I also had acupuncture during the ivf process too. To help with my lining and the day after the transfers..my first was unsuccessful but I got pregnant after my FET.

I'm not sure how much the acupuncture helped but I loved it. The lady I saw was lovely and I felt so great at the end of each session. Personally I didn't go down the medicine route, so didn't take any herbs throughout the process.

I’ve been thinking about trying it I think it’s about the only thing I haven’t tried yet. Regardless if it actually helps it must be relaxing. My partner doesn’t think it’s worth it or will help but he’s very negative about ttc in general nothing helps.

I’m doing it... it’s keeping me sane. It’s 59% hocus pocus and 41% acupuncture with needles... to be honest the 59% is great therapy. A chat is as good as any other therapy...

Thank you so much for all your responses. I will give it a go as o have another 2 months before another IVF cycle. It’s just a bit of herbs and weekly Acupuncture sessions which I can easily accommodate - it’s affordable and close by etc! If anything comes of it I will be sure to post!

Hi Leo,

I haven’t started my IVF journey yet (strangely terrified to even start) as I felt I wanted to get my body prepared for the hormones etc and I’m having accupuncture and herbs. Started 3 weeks ago, I feel a lot brighter in myself, happier actually and my period was better than it has been in 6 months. The herbs I drink morning and night are ok (not revolting) and I’m having acupuncture twice a week but soon to change to once as it’s getting expensive. Even if it doesn’t help me with pregnancy it’s definitely supporting my body and mind.

X

Myself I know two ladies who got pregnant naturally thanks to the treatment in GinS**n clinic. They are very experienced in TCM and effective in infertility treatments. I am sure they help you get pregnant soon. I keep my fingers crossed. x

I've had acupuncture weekly since Christmas (her specialist is gynaecology, mainly fertility) following a cancelled cycle the week before FET for 4 very large ovarian cysts. I was advised acupuncture could help with cyst and womb lining.

I have a friend who is an sports' injury acupuncturist who recommended that I chose someone from the AACP website (physio side of acupuncturism)

I've had 2 cycles cancelled last minute, one unsuccessful FET at Easter and a FET yesterday.

My fertility acupuncturist has also had given me herbs including one which has had astragalus in it (amongst other stuff) she doesn't mix them herself. It tastes a bit like aniseed. I am vegetarian and she felt that this would help with my uterine lining which was too thin on one of the cancelled transfers.

Without patronising, please go to someone recommended or with the corrects qualifications. Mine is Hertfordshire if anyone is interested.

Whether it is helping or not? Who knows, but it gives me 40 minutes a week to relax and my job is stressfum and I feel that I am doing all I can to help my body. It can't be doing me harm.

Hoping that this thread helps someone and wishing you all a successful journey Xx
