I am about to undergo my second FET on July 18th and have been taking medication accordingly. However I appear to be suffering the effects of summer (last transfer was at Easter)
My hayfever is worse than I've ever had before and keep getting bitten by insects. Could it be the effects of all of the hormones in my body?
Has anyone else experienced this or am I just unlucky this year?
Trivial compared to other questions perhaps but itchy and needy as well as hormonal is not a good combination.
Hi Turquoisemonkey. So sorry to hear you are suffering so. The common “non-drowsy” hay fever anti-histamines are usually OK to take whilst going through treatment, but need to be stopped when pregnant. You could try putting a little Vaseline up your nostrils to catch any pollen. Paracetamol is OK to take unless you've been prescribed anything else. Wear sunglasses when out too or driving, especially when you've got the air conditioning blowing. Hope you soon fel a bit better and all goes well for you. Diane
For years I've suffered with being bitten by insects and I tend to have quite a bad reaction to them. I have to carry Jungle Formula with with and make sure I'm wearing it if I know in going to be out at dusk (and/or it's damp out). I haven't noticed if it's any worse around when I'm going through IVF but saying that I'm not going through IVF at the mo and I've not been bitten yet this year (I hope I've not talked that up!!). When I'm bitten on the legs I swell so bad and the only thing that helps relieve the itch is Eurax cream (not sure if this is safe during ivf so please check with your clinic). It's annoying as my gp wont do anything for them until they are infected, which inevitably happens. I also appear to be the one that the mosquitoes go for, I'm sure some of us have better blood than others! There are many remedies/things people recommend but I've found antihistamines and Eurax are the only things that help. Good luck and I hope you can find something that helps you xx
