Embryo grading

Prayingforafamily profile image

Hi all. I just had a call from my clinic saying that 3 if my embryos have made it to day 5 blast all grade 2 and have been frozen due to lining issues. I am not sure of the gradings tbh, is 2 good. On day 3 I had 2 grade 1 and 3 grade 2.. so I assumed 1 was the best and so they have lost quality? Any one know much about grading? I am with care fertility if that makes a difference? X

Different hospitals have different grading systems and day 3 compared to day 5 can also be different. The quality can change from day 3 to day 5 too. However they only freeze good ones so take some comfort in that. Ive copied a couple of links that may help you understand gradings that helped me get my head around things.xx

I was with care for my 2 NHS cycles. 1 is top quality. One my first NHS cycle I had a day 3 grade 2/3 and on my second NHS cycle I had a day 5 grade 3 which we didn't transfer because of abnormalities. Hope this helps xx

Thanks for your Info, sorry you didn’t get to transfer. Are you looking at another round? I responded much better on my second cycle despite my age x

No worries it was devastating at the time but I should have went with my gut and cancelled the cycle, however the what ifs were playing with my mind. Your embryo grades are good so hopefully at least one will be lucky for you. As you will have read, top quality doesn't guarantee a bfp! My first private cycle I had a top quality blastocyst so something along the way has gone wrong. Apparently my egg quality has declined substantially and I was told to go for DE by care. Feel free to read my past posts. I'm just having a break from IVF and me and my OH are in the process of moving to Auatralia so lots going on and just taking it easy and trying a few clomid cycles whilst I also take clexane. I've been to my GP and asked for a referral to investigate endomestriosis which he's supporting with once I've had an ultrasound. Hoping your lining plays ball when the time comes to use those precious embryos xx
