Some words I’d encouragement please?

I’ve recently found out that I have high prolactin, a narrow cervix (no wonder the hycosy scan hurt so much!) and potentially something wrong with my thyroid. Is there any hope of me ever falling pregnant?

The fertility clinic said I had unexplained fertility but then this has all shown up!!

Hiya

Sorry to hear that but at least you now have more information about these things so can look at what treatment is available. Have they said next steps for prolactin and thyroid and whether the narrow cervix has an impact on ttc? I can't comment on any of those in particular but lots of people fall pregnant despite having things that may be preventing it or causing delays to it happening, and hopefully you and I will do so too! 😊😘 big hugs x x

You can still have issues but officially be ‘unexplained’ as lots of this may hinder but they’re not sure. Lots of stories on here that give hope to those with difficulties though! I hope our clinic will guide you on next steps and probabilities. X

I had high prolactin and my TSH was above 2.5 as recommended for pregnancy. I went to my GP and got medication for the high prolactin, it's easy to treat. What's wrong with your Thyroids? You might need to go see your GP and get some medication before starting treatment.

It’s my TSH that’s above 2.5! Sounds like we’re the same. I’ve had high prolactin in 2009 which was sorted when I came off domperidone but as my dad had a prolactinoma I need to have an MRI. Just can’t be seen until September 🤨

Did they treat your TSH?

I’m currently on medication to lower my prolactin which has been over 1000. Prior to medication I had to have an MRI.... currently 6 weeks in & this has reduced by 350, so still some way to go, but I’ve just had my medication increased.

I’m too due to have Laparoscopy & hysterocopy next week if AF turns up(currently 5 days late) doctor has said this may be due to the medication messing with my hormones but fingers crossed it shows up soon 😬.

Do you know what your prolactin is currently? X

They treated my TSH, a levothyroxine tablet every morning and within 6 weeks it was under 2.5, go see GP - but say about getting it under 2.5 as in my experience the fertility specialist wanted under 2.5 but GP was happy with under 5 so took a few back and forwards. Good luck!

Same here. The gp said it was normal but the fertility specialist and acupuncturist said it was high!

Hi Jennie I had problems with my prolactin too, was 1311. However it turns out that it was linked to my thyroid which was 4.96. In normal circumstances my thyroid wouldnt have been treated as its classed as subclinical however my clinic gave me a letter to request to start on levothyroxine (50mcg)....your thyroid should be around 2 or under for conception and I was lucky that my GP knew this. As my thyroid came down so did my prolactin....voila! Not sure how bad your thryroid is but one impacts on the other. Also prolactin levels rise when we sleep and decrease from wakening so try to get an appointment for late moning when you re-test. As for your narrow cervical canal, Ive had some issues there too, most of us that havent had kids have narrow cervical canals (spoke to a gynaecologist re this) so its not unusual but you do get some ladies who have twisted or real cervical stenosis where it is blocked. So long as your clinic can get the catheter through for embryo transfer then its ok....you might want to ask about a mock transfer as if there is a problem they can dilate your cervix under GA prior to treatment. My clinic also found that giving me an injection of buscopan in my bottom before transfers helps me! Good luck with it all.xx

Thank you. My last test results were only 2.6 for TSH but waiting for the results from the one I had the other day. I don’t know the prolactin level yet either, just that it was high, by mine was 3000 ish in 2009. I wonder what my thyroid was then? I’m having a full profile down so I’ll see. Thank you for the suggestion re the test. I was also on cd 2 so had low iron too but I only get that then. They did have trouble getting the equipment in during my hyfosy scan and I Rene vet him having to twist it or something which was so painful. It’s also painful when we dtd as well sometimes and was diagnosed with vaganismus (sp?) a few years ago but it’s not that bad now. I’m not having ivf yet. I paid privately for the tests as my bmi is just over the eligibility criteria where I live (it seems quite low here) so need to lose a stone first

Edit - I’ve just checked and my TSH in 2009 was 3.66
