Hoovering during 2WW?

Bear78 profile image

On the day of my ET Yesterday we nipped to the shop and I lifted 3 of those large 6 packs of mineral water from the shelf to trolley ... Today I hoovered. My nurse said carry on as normal - this is ok right? I do feel like my stomach is strained a bit and tight so not going to do anymore. But as usual ... Worrying I've done too much already?

I wondered about hoovering because it does put strain on your stomach

Did you come to a conclusion? I did feel my stomach strain ... Annoyed with myself

I would ask the nurse, I hope you’re okay! I was told no heavy lifting 😊

I just wondered what people considered 'carry on as normal'?

No I’m going to ask the question before my next transfer. They gave me a sheet of things not to do it just said no physical exercise on it . Maybe phone your clinic ? X

Could you share a picture maybe? I got my transfer today with zero guidance what (not) to do...

Yeah I think I'm ok - it's just tight ... But that could be anything I guess. Can't call nurse till Monday now 😐

I've been hoovering, cleaning, tidying and lifting (within reason) as normal. Tum feels tight all the time 🤷🏽‍♀️ so I figure I might as well carry on x

If these are things you normally do you should be fine. It won't be a shock to your body.

Just maybe don't start any new fitness classes in your 2WW 😊

Fingers crossed for you xx

It is advised not to do so. However, I dont think that it would have any adverse impact if this is something you always do since for your body this might not be something out of usual. Also, if you feel okay then I am sure everything is alright. Stay positive! Good luck to you. I hope everything goes well. Sending prayers your way.

It’s so confusing isn’t it! Every clinic says different things. Mine said carry on as normal but don’t do heavy exercise. Don’t rest and lie down too much because you want to keep blood flow going. On the other hand, I listened to a podcast where they said that women that go to Greece to do ivf, are told to lie down and do a wee lying down(!!) after the transfer and then they lie down for 20 minutes directly after and then their advice is to go home and just rest basically lie down for two days. it is so weird how every clinic is different

I went back to work straight after my transfer and was lifting but on my days off I totally rested and was lying down whenever I felt tired. Hope this helps. Two wait just drags. Good Luck xx

I try to avoid anything strenuous. I want to do everything possible not to put strain on my core during 2WW. If I got a negative result I wouldn’t want to think ‘...what if...’

You'll be fine. I was only told once after transfer to 'take it easy for a couple of day's. I've always just carried on as normal x

My clinic always say carry on as normal but I tend to be super paranoid and its an excuse for my oh to do the hoovering for a change however as the others have said its not like you are doing anything that you wouldn't normally do and ladies that get pregnant naturally carry on lifting etc so you should be fine. Wishing you the best of luck x

I didn’t risk anything, but I had OHSS.

I did overdo it one day, and put at risk twisting my ovaries . It was enough to stop me in my tracks. It is a pretty big procedure, and quite seriously, I would ask someone else to hover for a week or two.

You are completely fine. My first IVF i did it abroad and folowed all the rules and ended up with a chemical pregnacy. My second one i also had to go abroad again, couldn’t wait for a 5 day transfer i decided to do a 4 dat transfer because i needed to travel the next day back to the uk and back to work. Transfer was done 8pm evening. I had a 6 hours flight next day 8am to catch. I had my hand travel box plus a GM neverful bag with so many things filled. Plus two 23kg big boxes. I carried everything my self. I got back home still had to go shopping for food and other things alone because my husband works abroad and couldnt be here with me. Today i am 13+3 days pregnant. I was stressing like you too but i saw a video on youtube that help put my mind at rest and decided to enjoy my life, hope and pray for the best.

That's super helpful. Thanks

Many women have multiple children through IVF. They won’t have a choice but to pick up the toddler, get on with daily tasks etc during treatment in these circumstances. Therefore my sense is there is nothing you will have done that will adversely impact the outcome.

Having been in your shoes I totally know how stressful it is, and how paranoid it makes you. Try to relax (which I know is almost impossible).

I wish you all the luck in the world! X

I got told to jot lift anything heavy so I think so long as you avoid anymore bending and lifting hoovering should be fine!!xx

Thats always the difficult question. My doctors always told me to remain as normal. I’ve stayed away from lifting first two three days after ET but with current pregnancy few hours after transfer I run to train which we didn’t want to miss because I’ve forgotten what we had just hours ago 😂🙈i was hoovering few days after, and i were lifting my toodler and some shelfs with books (we have been renovating a room at that time). After positive test i was carrying my duties as normal. I’m strong believer that if meant to be the activities you do normally at home should not aftect your pregnancy ;)

To be honest I was sore. I got frustrated so did hoover etc. I think I did too much, as sometimes was rushing around and heart was racing
