We have our 6 pgs normal blastocyst (4 are 5 day and 2 are 6 day) and they were all graded before they went in for pgs. They are all graded 4's. Most are 4BA or 4CB so I'm struggling to know if they are even worth transferring or if we need to do another egg retrieval with pgs before attempting a transfer. Really want to avoid another miscarriage if I can...
Has anyone had any success transferring blastocysts with a "4" grading?
I believe grade 4 blastos are good? I had two fertilise previously, one 4AA and the other 3AB. They transferred to 4AA saying it was top quaility. But I'm not entirely sure on all the gradings, sorry! X

I only ever hear about 5AA etc on here never 4's ...
Unfortunately, it wasn't successful. We are having our FET this Thursday, all being well with the thaw process x

I had 4ab and 4bc transferred together. one stuck 
I don't really understand the grading system, but my Dr said we were transferring one 'good' and one 'intermediate' embryo. Definitely not poor grades by any means. Good luck hon xxx
That's great news. Thanks for replying. Why did you decide to transfer 2 instead of a single? My clinic doesn't allow more than one at a time so I'm curious as to whether it ups the odds or something?
We had 5 blasts frozen, 2 good and 3 intermediate quality and both embryologist and my Dr recommended a 2/2/1 transfer protocol, which we were happy to go along with. Probably a lot has to do with age as I'd just turned 39 at transfer. Transferring 2 together does increase the chances of pregnancy a little, I think something like 15%, but it certainly doesn't double it.
We didn't do testing on our embies, so we really had no idea whether they would be viable or not and I think that's why we and our Dr were kind of like just throw them in there and see what happens!! In your case, you know they're normal so that's probably another reason not to go for a double transfer. 6 blasts tested 'normal' is really reassuring - 6 really good chances of getting pregnant, I wouldn't think you'd need to do EC again. Hi. I had a 5ba and a 4bb. The number might be related to the stage (day) of development. My dr told me that some develop slower (e.g. the 4bb is behind the 5ba).
We transferred the 4bb and I am now 15 weeks pregnant
My dr says blastocysts that are not perfect fight more to get implanted and have better success rates (not sure if there are any studies).

A grade 4 is good, dont be disheartened! The embryologist may give them grades but in reality nobody knows which embryos will implant, its only an educated guess.....Ive had a whole range put back and only 1 pregnancy which ended up in miscarriage. Ive copied in a page which helped me to understand that grading system better with some pictures to help too!xx

My clinic don't grade the embryos at all. Many are starting to either not grade or use previously discarded embryos and getting similar results as previous so please try to not fixate too much on it. Also, those clinics who do grade sometimes have different ways of describing the grading.

A grade 4 is really good, don't know why you think it's isn't! Lol A grade 4 is a fully expanded blastocyst, 5 just means it's hatched which isn't necessary, all my blastocysts are graded 4 which are good quality and my 4aa which was transferred last October will be born in 2 weeks 😊 xxx
Aww congrats! I think I just freaked because I never hear of anyone with 4's only 5's so thought mine must be inferior. Glad you're doing well. best of luck!
I had a daughter from a grade 3AB. I actually had another 3AB to use, but for the FET I had recently they chose a 5BB instead because it was further developed and got a BFP as well. You just never know what criteria is the best, but I have been very lucky with both.

Grade 4 is grand! Fully expanded just hasn't started hatching yet. I had a 5AA day 5 fresh transfer, so absolute top quality which sadly ended in MC. I think as long as they're viable it's all about lithe luck of the draw 🤷🏽♀️All the best of luck for yours x

My last embryo was the lowest graded and I remember thinking if the others hadn't worked why would this one? It's the poorest grading. My son is 6 months now 😃 I really wish I had known about pgs testing would have maybe saved a lot of heart ache. Best of luck with your transfer 👍👍👍👍
