Supposed to start treatment today but the clinic messed up dates. Devastated.

They got me in on Day 5 instead of Day 3 because my period fell on a weekend so couldn’t start treatment today.... presumably they knew that would be the case when I phoned with my period on Friday or even perhaps before they did my baseline scan and sent me next door to get my first injection but nope. Can’t start on day 23 this month either because it would then clash with the clinic closing for two weeks. Beyond gutted.

She told us not to bother self funding but to wait till we get to the top of the waiting list “sometime between November and February” and “have fun for 6 months” excuse me what??

We can do a short protocol on Day 1 next month and squeeze in before the closure or wait till day 23 next month and do the long protocol. She said the only difference is one egg. My AMH is 8.92 so normal but on the low side. I just don’t even know how to process that decision when they have completely devastated us today by messing up the dates. 😭

Oh no so sorry hun, that's really awful. It's hard enough as it is and they have just caused all this unnecessary confusion on top of everything else. Why are they closing for 2 weeks??

Is there another clinic in your area you can go ahead with on day 23? I stated injections on a random day (standard protocol they called it) is there a reason you need to start on a specific day? Xxxx

They close every Summer and every Christmas for two weeks to do things with their equipment in the labs and we knew this but had been told we were just in time to get in before the closure. We can’t move clinics it’s NHS. I have no idea today is the first day they ever mentioned having to start injections on a specific day and as usual they have been really vague about it all. All I was told was phone on day 1 of my cycle I did and they gave me and appointment for Day 5 and now they decide that’s too late.... no idea what’s going on it’s all so confusing. x

I would ring them back and ask why they want to start on day 5. So sorry this is happening 😥

I haven’t got any useful advice ( hopefully others will have) but think it’s wrong you have such a delay due to their error. I’d consider writing to PALS I done this when my follow up appointment was later than my surgery discharge letter had specified & all was resolved very quickly. I wish you good luck xxx

They’ve messed us about a few times now really had enough. What is PALS? x

That’s not good, could you ask to change clinics if trust has gone?

PALS is abbreviated for patient advice and liaison service. They are impartial but will work with you to resolve the issue. They work in NHS hospital & you can email or phone them. I found them very helpful. And I hope they can sort this out for you xx x

I think we’re stuck with them as they are NHS and we get 3 rounds don’t think we’re allowed to switch NHS clinics it probably wouldn’t be practical anyway. I really wish we’d gone private we’d have been seen in March we thought it was two months difference but feels like they’ll never see us now.

I’ll look into that when I’m feeling less drained that sounds really helpful thanks. x

I started on day 8 or something! Can you ask why they can only start you on a specific day? I guess a month in the grand scheme of things won’t make any difference but I can understand why you feel so frustrated and let down at this point. It also seems weird that they close for 2 weeks! Good luck with everything xxx

I think we’re going to have to phone and ask again because it had never ever been mentioned before to me that there was this ridiculously small window to start treatment! I guess it’ll be to do with what medications each person takes. It’s so heartbreaking to be counting down to today for the last couple of months just to be told nah for nonsense reasons we can’t do it this month. They did my scan first and everything told me I wa good to go. Feels like I’ll never not be angry with them. 😭 x

I really feel for you. It is so tough even without extra drama that you really don’t need. Another hurdle added to the long list of hurdles. Ringing them tomorrow might give you some answers and peace of mind xxx
