Undergoing IVF - egg collection Thursday

Starting IVF short protocol on the 4th April. Been on menopur and fyrmadel injections. Eggs have been growing really well - 20 follicles. Egg collection is booked for Thursday am. Im 39, 40 in 2 months.

Feeling anxious about it all now. May not be able to transfer a fresh embryo as OHSS might be an issue now. Will have to wait and see.

Nurse worried me today too, saying eggs are doing well but the quality might not be great as your older. Hopefully, all ok. Sometimes them telling you these things doesnt exactly boost your confidence! Especially when your feeling terrible anyway.

Will have to wait and see what happens. Trying not to worry, at the same time feeling nauseous, stomach pains and tired ftom the high dose of menopur.

I was turning 39 when I did mine. Over 20 follicles but only collected 12 eggs, and only 9 mature, but 8 fertilized and 5 made it to blastocyst and freezing. We were really pleased with that result, so even if you get a big drop off you could still end up with a decent number of embryos so try not to stress and hope for the best.

Mild OHSS and had to wait for two bleeds until FET but it was better in the long run to get back to 100% before transfer. Not long to go for you now, so keep your chin up and best of luck xxx

If it helps, I had egg collection in Jan & I’m 39. They only got 7 eggs but 4 were mature and three got to blastocyst stage. This despite my hugely advanced age! (This whole process just makes you feel ancient!). Best of luck for your egg transfer 🤞🏻🤞🏻
