Eggs collected

My Egg collection went ahead as planned today. I’m feeling fine, aside from being tired, not too bad. The clinic was excellent

I’m Slightly thrown by the number of eggs collected. On Monday I was told there were 25 follicles and today 5 eggs were collected. I do feel disappointed and a bit confused as to what happened to the rest but understand that all it takes is one. In a way I wish they hadn’t told me the number of follicles.

Can’t believe somewhere in a lab my eggs are hopefully being fertilised. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I think it can be deceiving with the numbers they give you. The numbers I were given show some follicles which are smaller and she said they are unlikely to contain eggs. The ones measuring over 1cm are more likely to contain eggs although they never know until they get in there to retrieve them. Just another 'unknown' for us to deal with. You have 5 though and that is great 😃 Fertilisation next xx

5 is still 4 more than 1 so don’t worry about the large numbers you were expecting but now focus on what you do have - it’s certainly quantity over quality. Good luck with your journey - it’s so nerve wracking yet exciting getting the calls from the embryologist now with the updates! Fingers crossed that the majority of them fertilise overnight while you’re hopefully sleeping x

I’ve just had the call. 4 out of 5 have fertilised. So far so good. They said they want to wait until day 5 to transfer x
