Hi ladies! Had a bit of a cry this morning. Going through second IVF and currently embryos are on day 3. 4 are still developing, but have slowed a bit. 2 at 5 cells and 2 at 4 cells. Clinic gave me the option of a transfer today or push to day 5 - something they have started encouraging as at day 3 it’s not the best indicator of what’s going to happen with any cell grade of embryos, and likely that if they have not made it to day 5 then they would never have made a pregnancy anyway.
Looking for success stories of slow developing embryos making it to day 5 !! ?
Love to you all on this journey xxx

I would go with your doctor’s recommendation, but if it was my choice I would just transfer on day 3. We had same development last time and none of them made it, which means we had nothing to transfer. You might get more lucky if you have fresh transfer...but go with doctor’s recommendation. Thinking of you x
It’s a very personal choice in the end. We got given the choice, our clinic didn’t have a preference and did not try to sway us in any direction. We decided to hold out to day 5 for 2 reasons. My research online seemed to show that ivf incubators are very good these days at replicating conditions to get embryos to day 5-6. Also we thought we rather know on day 5 that we had no embryos than suffer another 2 weeks before having the same outcome, if they were never going to make it. In the end we had one early blast make it to day 5 (out of 3 eggs at the start, we also had a mix of 4 & 5 cell embryos) but unfortunately we had a BFN earlier this week. So no success story here sorry but remember it’s your choice and there’s no real way to know whether it’s the right choice or not. Whatever you do decide it’ll be the right choice for you at that moment. Good luck xx
Thanks so much for your comments. That’s exactly how the clinic explained it. They also said that in Natural conception, the embryo would not reach the uterus until day 5. So they believe the communication to be better between your body and the embryo when returned at that stage. They see success with embryos at all stages doing this apparently. So I’m hoping mine will catch up a bit 🤞
