Lose weight to get your bmi down but remember to eat full fat dairy, lots of nuts, animal fats etc as itās good for your body š¤¦āāļø I swear Iām never gonna shift this Lardy ass!!
Thank u. Iām just having a rant š¤£ feel a bit better now. Honestly the fertility journey is crazy. Itās gonna be worth it though. Xx positive thoughts xxx
Oh hun - that is like an endless list of rules - not surprised youāre frustrated š¤Ŗ
Any chance you can get a referral via GP to see a dietitian or nutritionist? Just wondering if that would help with you balancing things out, getting helpful meal ideas (to include some of your favourite things) and to allow for treats...?
I feel for you - I love my chocolate, crisps, wine & Prosecco! š x
š¤£š¤£ itās just been one of those days š¤£ Iām hoping to get an appointment shortly Iāve got a good few stone to go but Iām just going to have to pull my finger out. Itās so easy to go up on weight xxx how are u? Xxx
A lot of studies that are coming out at the moment say that much of the dietary advice makes little or no difference to fertility levels etc. I think for some ppl it does help them feel like they have a small amount of control over the situation.
I drove myself crazy thinking that all these small changes would make a big difference (it didnāt). As long as you are eating a balanced diet and are relatively active then you are doing the right thing. Diet pressures will only activate that part of your brain that will crave Krispy Kremes and it will make you miserable.
Are you dieting so you can get a referral to the fertility clinic? Iām in the same boat. Got one more stone to lose but hubby and I saved up for tests at a private clinic. We canāt afford treatment however so now need to lose the weight
This made me laugh. In the middle of stim injections and would love a cigarette in each hand and pint of wine with a straw! This sucks and during most stressful time ever can't have my fav. Go-to stress busters š
If itās any help, I think the full fat dairy thing was discredited as having any impact on fertility and Iāve never heard that you need animal fats...
Yes personally I agree with this. I went vegan while ttc and during ivf, to help with endo and lose weight. I fortunately conceived on first attempt at ivf with icsi. So I'd say I'm walking proof that dairy and animal fats are not necessary!
Have you tried following Chloe Madely fat loss blitz? Sheās all about high protein low carb. Personally, I wouldnāt follow it exactly as itās quite low in calories too and you donāt want to be crash dieting at the moment so maybe increase the portion sizes slightly but the meal ideas are so simple and super yummy.
hi, my bmi was at the top end of high at October last year, I joined slimming world and within 4 weeks I had lost half a stone and last night I got my stone award , in Dec we had a failed off cycle but things did go better which I put down to being lighter. I still drink whole milk , and other bits to help my fertility and I still managed to lose. I got about another half a stone to lose which I want gone before we try again.
I also still have all the crisps, fish suppers and all sorts. slimming world is a good lifestyle choice not just a diet.
This is hilarious. I felt so similar!! Iām The worlds biggest binger as well when things donāt go right. (Not good I know Iām just such an emotional eater) So the three months before ivf I just lost the will and put on 2 stone. When I got weighed at 1st fertility appointment (which I didnāt know was going to happen) I literally scraped through the bmi cut off. Since then I put on another 12lb through the ivf process due to Stims, bloating and general yackiness. I hardly changed my diet and ate rubbish, didnāt exercise and I barely drank alcohol (two glasses throughout) and did take supplements and did acupuncture and cut out all caffeine.
Weāve just had our first failed FET, didnāt get one egg to blastocyst and transferred an non developed egg but a 5% chance of pregnancy. I could swear my weight and unhealthy eating must have something to do with egg quality, and I canāt help blame myself for being given this chance and throwing it away. (Weāve not had our review until 5 weeks later so I wonāt know for ages) Try and make the change before and you wonāt regret it!! The Dos and donāt rules should be more flexible because itās too hard on ladies to burden this pressure and the pressure to be perfect!
Hey Boo, where are you getting your advice from? Our brain will always tell us to have what we try to avoid. It's clever like that. Best to factor all foods into your diet eating mostly foods that will bring you towards your goal whilst also having a bit of what you want everyday. Couple that with a good activity level, sleep and relaxation. You'll be right! I'm a PT/nutrtion coach so happy to answer any questions (yes I drove myself crazy with the nutrition for fertility. Not made a jot of difference!)
What helped me to stay focused was to think about how I would feel if treatment didnāt work. I didnāt want any regrets. Itās really tough. I still had takeaways once a week but for the rest of the time I ate well and included eggs milk avocados and orange juice. I switched to decaf tea and stopped drinking a couple of months before treatment. I was within the bmi but still technically classed as overweight for my height. I did Accupuncture too. I donāt know if any of that helped or if I was just the luckiest person but my treatment worked.
You can do this. Think of how worth it it will all be if it works.
Also we were told we may have to have icsi as my husband had low motility but after months of making him take wellman fertility and him losing weight, by the time we got to egg collection it had improved enough to have standard IVF which was amazing although scary at the time as they said a chance of none of eggs fertilising. And I only had 4 eggs fertilised and 3 made it to blastocyst.
Good luck and as always rant away. Xx
I feel your pain! I havenāt had weight loss battle but all the dietary advice drives me up the wall! I think there is good evidence that weight loss (if overweight) helps fertility - the evidence about eating nuts / diary etc is not good. I would pick your battles and focus on being healthy and staying sane! A lot of people have recommended slimming world for weight loss as you can eat a lot (so donāt feel hungry or have to go without anything) but it does work- Might work as if you want to prioritise pints and nuts you can! Good luck Xx
Ha Ha love it! I feel like doing exact opposite see what the results are then. I need to lose some weight been for reoccuring mc test everything was fine only thing she could suggest was to lose a bit weight see if that makes an ounce of difference but ive been trying to lose weight on and off since 1998 was actually hoping my thyroid was a little under active (joke) for there be a reason instead of me just being gready lol
Losing weight sucks seriosly hahahaI always wonder how some women eat whatever they want and they always appear like Victoria secrets models hahahaha and for me if i eat one piece of bread it goes straight to my cheeks hahahah
The only way I've lost weight was eating healthy and 5 times a day. I can share what i ate if will be of any help for you š
Breakfast: oats with fat free yoghurt and a hard boiled egg / 2nd option was toast, olives, cottage cheese and a boiled egg again
2nd breakfast : fruit and nuts
Lunch: meat or fish with brown rice and salad
2nd lunch Meat or fish with salad
Dinner: meat or fish with salad.
I was adding some extras to the salads, having some avocados and etc. Drinking lots of water and this way of eating helped me lose a stone in a month.
I hadto eat every 3 hours so i felt like the only thing i do all day is eating ahhaha. I was treating myself some sweet every now and then and it worked very well.
Once you get into a routine of a meal regime gets easier.
Good luck and im sure you can do that! ā¤ā¤ā¤ā¤
Haha! Your post made me smile! I am so confused with what we are meant to either not eat etc and all at the same time people say relax, forget about it and it'll happen. So dairy is ok? I thought that was off? Gawd, I have no idea. Totally lost! xxx
Pineapple, Brazil nuts, Pomegranates!!!! So much bumpf out there about fertility boosting foods it's enough to drive you crazy if the constant waiting for results or appointments doesn't push you over the edge first!! Hang on in there hon, you'll get there xxx
