How do you all fund your cycles? We have a failed cycle on the nhs and now need to find funds to carry on xx

The only way for us to be able to fund private cycles was to start saving like crazy. No more fancy holidays, treats, updates to the house. Sorry about your failed cycle, I hope you find strength and money to carry on xx

Hi there, I had some savings, therefore dipped into them to pay for my private round 💕 xx

Saving, saving, saving unfortunately. Some clinics use access to fertility which is basically a loan but if you unfortunately have no success then you get 100% of the money back. Google access to fertility. We dont qualify yet for nhs funding.x

I’m so sorry to hear this 😢 I really hope you manage to find a way to try again. Xxxx

Savings and when that runs out our families said they’d help us. I’m hoping it won’t come to that. The funding lottery is very unfair.

I’m sorry to hear about your failed cycle. Private clinic costs are quite expensive but most NHS hospitals offer treatment for private patients. The costs are pretty much half of those you’ll pay in a private clinic and so are the medication costs. It might be worth looking in to. We were lucky enough to having savings but the costs can quickly spiral out of control Xx

I'm sure others can comment but i thought going abroad can be cheaper than uk treatment

I'm so sorry your cycle failed.. ❤❤❤❤

Did you check abc ivf in London? You can think of egg sharing which will reduce ivf price almost in a half and there is also Access fertility they have some options which will give you more chances for a good price xx

The NHS pulled our funding at the last minute so we had to use our savings to continue.

Same as above. Lots of savings - what age are you? Some clinics if you donate your eggs can reduce the costs if your treatment. Also we went to Spain for last 3 treatments so kind of made a holiday of that too. Drugs also cheaper abroad x

Sorry should add I did lots of saving - that reads like I had lots of savings - which I didn't 😂 would have been a whole lot easier if I did!!

Hi Sheri, unfortunately I wasn't eligible for NHS funding so having to save like crazy, it's difficult as having to say no to all social events with friends,no holidays and house renovations on hold. I'm with a clinic in Czech Republic, main reason because I'm having egg donation but it maybe worth looking at clinics abroad Good luck xx

We weren't eligible for NHS funding, as all services in our area were cut. Fortunately, we had been saving like mad anyway for a house deposit, so we had the money ready for our cycle, but felt it was unfair that we had to make that choice on something that was essentially a massive gamble. Fortunately, it worked out, but so unfair that people in some parts of the UK get the recommended three tries and others do not. As if our generation don't already have enough to deal with!

Even if you can just put away a few quid a week, it all counts. I'd also definitely consider writing to your MP about the lack of cycles provided in your area, it may not help, but you never know the local NHS CCG may make an exception for you and give you the recommended number of cycles depending on your circumstances.

Hope everything is ok for you, and good luck xxx

We were lucky to have 1 free nhs cycle which unfortunately didn’t work. We have savings for our house which we are now going to have to use. Does anyone have any idea of costs for a fresh full short protocol. I have a price list from care but doesn’t include meds or anything so not sure what we should realistically be looking at.

Hiya, A fresh cycle on short protocol was £3,500 for us and the meds were an additional £800.

If you have any more questions let me know.

Me and hubby ended up getting a bank loan after my cp and it was worth every penny as I now have a baby boy 😍 and we have nearly paid the loan of now to xx

We had a bank loan too, I just thought that if it was successful I would never begrudge the money. Unfortunately it wasn’t successful and was lucky enough to a have NHS funded round too. It’s such a difficult decision on how to finance and it’s seems so unfair that some places get 3 fully funded cycles and some only 1 or none! We didn’t ask to be in this position! 😡

A fresh cycle for us for £3500 and £1100 for meds. I hope you get your wish and dreams soon xx

For yours and everyone elses reference, asda pharmacy do not for profit fertility drugs. They will only charge you the price of the drugs and wont make a profit off them whereas other places will. Hope you get your happy ending soon x
