My husband and I have just had our group meeting and are currently waiting for a consent signing appointment.
I was wondering if there is anything we should be doing with regards to diet and lifestyle? We both have a healthy BMI, don't smoke and stay fit by running and going to the gym a few times a week. We drink alcohol occasionally but nothing too heavy. In termsof diet, are there any things that you would recommend from your experiences and knowledge of IVF. I know we are still a few months away from starting anything but want to give us the best possible chance.
Thanks everyone xx

To be honest you both sound like you're in good shape already. There's so much information out there, a lot of it conflicting, that it can drive you crazy and take over your life. The only thing I would say as worth looking into, based on my experience of IVF, was OH taking magnesium supplements and I took COQ10, on our Drs advice, for a few months prior to treatment. But that was based on our circumstances of his sperm count and my age so might not even be applicable to you. Apart from that, stay generally healthy as you are doing and enjoy living your life through this crazy journey xxx
Hi Both. My diet for ore-conception is as follows: Carbohydrates - Wholegrain bread and wholemeal pasta, oatmeal, brown rice. All fresh vegetables especially raw or steamed. Over boiling rids them of vitamins and minerals, pineapple juice, apricots, potatoes, all fruit and honey, beans, chickpeas and lentils. Protein - Organic meat if possible, poultry, fish, Milk and hard cheese, nuts and seeds. Fat - Extra virgin olive oil and sunflower oil, avocado and peanut butter, mackerel, sardines, nuts (especially Brazil and walnuts), seeds, sweet corn and sweet potatoes. The things to avoid are too much sugar, processed foods, ready meals, butter, ice cream etc. A little is OK, but not all the time. Drink plenty of water and only a little tea and coffee if feeling deprived. You'r ding all the rest OK. Just really wanted to wish you bth well when you get started with the meds. Diane
