Hashimotos and pregnancy

Hello

I am wondering if anyone has experience of trying for a baby with a hashimoto diagnosis?

I am looking to begin iui later this year. My thyroid tsh is well under control at 0.87. My antibodies were 1,300 and I've managed to get them down to 166 (should be under 30). I've read a lot of stories about the potential for hashimotos to target foreign items (such as a baby) but unsure whether this is exaggerated.

Thanks

W

Hi, I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's in October. My TSH is now 2.18 and I am on 50 Levothyroxine. I am havw been trying to conceive for over 2 years no success never had before.

Our fertility clinic didn't want to consider any other options and said IVF gives us best chances (we were unexplained).

I am meeting with Endocrinologist on Monday and will ask about conception and baby development because I want to understand the risks. Alao my Fertility clinic doesn't seem to know much about thyroid stuff.

I will post on this forum with an update from my consultation with Endocrinologist xx

Hi Whitney,

I have Hashi’s and have been having IVF treatment, initially due to issues on my husbands side, but we have had a number of failed implantations which seems to be down to my immunity issues.

When I am going through a treatment cycle I am put on steroids and blood thinners to help suppress my immune system. I have just had more in depth bloods and will have a more aggressive immune system suppression on my next cycle.

I am not saying any of this to worry you, but make sure your clinic are aware you have Hashi’s from the outset, I had three treatment cycles before they actually noted that I had an immune issue. If I could go back I would make damn sure they put it in my notes from the beginning. Also, I would be really persistent with them in terms of asking what they recommend to overcome this.

Good luck on your journey.

Also, how did you reduce down your antibodies, that is an amazing result!

I have lowered antibodies through going gluten and dairy free, eating a load of fruit and veg and I've been experimenting with ldn which I think has helped ! X

After many failed ivf attempts, was finally diagnosed with Hashi/ Hypothyroidism. Seriously believe my high antibodies and TSH may have contributed to my miscarriage 2 years ago and implantation issues.

Had a final round of ivf using clexane (blood thinning injections) and 20mg of steroid tablets prednisolone both daily ... and got a BFP. Have been using these daily until end of week 12. Now week 13 and fingers crossed, everything is ok since last scan. Went completely gluten free as well after finding out 2 years ago. It is possible. Just make sure you get prednisolone and blood thinners. Truly believe this was the 'breaking' point in my treatment. Best wishes x
