Help - ivf abroad

I have started looking into IVF abroad, as the clinics abroad need you to provide certain tests so they can assess you, how do you go about getting these done???

Hi

I had treatment abroad and took my test results from my previous cycle in the uk. Many of my tests I had done at my GPs.

I would ask my gp if they could be done on the NHS? If they refuse there is many private clinics that do blood test, but are expensive.

Or I am sure your clinic abroad could do them for you. Which will be much cheaper than the U.K.

Hope that helps.

Good luck

Hidden is your woman here! I'm sure she'll give you some tips! Good luck! I'm also having treatment abroad but through a hospital so they do it all. x

I have a lovely co-ordinator that I communicate with-she got me organised, told me what tests to get, when to do them, where to go.she makes it very straight forward and she helps select clinics in either Greece or Spain. You don't pay her as the clinic does that.shes always at the end of the phone or email. Let me know if u would like her info and I'll pm u x

Hey Skybid,

I was asked for chest xrays, mammography, blood type and a letter from my GP saying i was healthy and no medical reasons I should not try to become pregnant or have meds.

I queried the chest xrays! Why. They replied to say as long as hubby and i have had no lung problems this is fine and not to bother.

Had to have the mammography done privately (expensive) and my GP kindly agreed to do bloods.

What things are u being asked for?

Xx

Hey LBM1979

At the moment they have asked for:

A basic sonogram to make sure there are no fibroids/polyps/free fluids in the uterus or cysts in the ovaries, or anything visible that can potentially interfere with a successful pregnancy process.

A recent hormone profile of the female patient and include FSH, LH, Estradiol, Prolactin, TSH and AMH hormone tests.

I have sent them info on my previous cycles.

xx

Think they will have what they need from you and if they come back with anything else I would ask them if they can do when you are there. They are much cheaper usually which is the biggest reason we are going in the first place.

Im going for DE IVF so they require a lot more from me on that basis xx

Hi, we are going abroad in a few days time for DE IVF.

I asked the same question a few months ago as I could not take the time off work to go overseas for tests as well so had to have them done here. Even though I don't qualify for IVF on the NHS, I made an appointment with my local GP and she referred me and my husband for bloodwork and also for his semen analysis. Only tests they won't cover are Blood Group - my hubby knew his but I didn't know mine so had to go private for that.

We then sent all results to our clinic and they were reviewed in a Skype consultation with them.

So definitely approach your local clinic and go from there. Best of luck to you xxx

Hey! I also had ed ivf abroad.

I was asked for blood tests for HIV, hepatitis B,C, syphilis, karyotype test, breast ultrasound scan if I am not older 50 yo, blood group and Rh-factor, chest X-ray, and of course my medical records regarding my previous infertility treatment. But some my tests were done more then 4 months ago and the clinic needed the results to be latest. They suggested me to take the necessary tests in the clinic without fee at our initial consultation to confirm my ability to carry a baby. So we did it abroad.

It's always better to call and ask again if you don't get something.

anyway, I wish you all happiness and safe pregnancy!!! xxx

hello Skybid

I was in the same boat not so long ago, unfortunately. as it was mention before by different lovely ladies, there is nothing strange in treatment abroad. I have nothing to add to what Hidden and burkeee wrote about needed tests but if there is a strong need you may have some medicals done in that particular clinic/country you chose (at least it was possible in my case).

Best wishes! xx
