Hopefully haveing Frozen embryo transfer on the 5th after having a couple of months off following my first fet (unsuccessful).
I have really been getting into the gym over the last few months and was just wondering what peoples thoughts are about going during my 2ww. I know some people advise not to because it can twist your ovaries if they are enlarged from the meds etc but I am guessing that is not the case with fet? Just thinking it might take my mind off things and keep me positive.
Do they advise against swimming too?
Thanks in advance xxx

No swimming or baths during the tww. That’s what I’ve always been told at my clinic. Light exercises are fine as it encourages healthy blood flow but nothing too strenuous xx
I love the gym too, and it's really good for clearing my head - but was advised not to do anything that would divert blood from the uterus during the 2ww and also in early pregnancy if successful. Some walking and stretching but nothing that would require blood taking more oxygen to the muscles and definitely nothing that makes you red in the face or out of breath. Also told not to do Pilates because it might disturb the uterus That's how my Dr. explained it all to me anway - must say I thought it was exaggerating a bit, but when we've come so far to get to this point we do whatever they tell us!!!
Swimming is also out right after transfer I think, something to do with the cervix maybe not being totally closed after transfer if I understood right???
Anway, I hope you can find something to keep you occupied during the dreaded 2ww and it flies by for you. Best of luck xxx
It is different for everyone. If you are someone who has been exercising before it will be completely fine. However, if someone starts to exercise for the first time during the TTW then it is not good. also during this time, it is better to opt for a light exercise routine. Good luck to you. I hope things go well for you. Take care of yourself! Eat healthy as well.
Im very active girl myself and I’m ‘killing’ myself cycling every day to work 22miles! It was something I found hard to change when it comes to ivf/FET, but I did it every time after transfer day! Commuting by train is hectic in compare to independent cycling but I had to do it for my reasonableness!
I would advise take it easy in the first few days after transfer. Then on I guess some gym exercise still can be taken but maybe you need speak to your doctors. Myself after day 5post transfer I was already keeping up with normal activities except cycling. But after my tests got positive I’ve at least started using scooter to get quicker to train station. It’s brilliant I can feel my blood flow circulating nicely and I feel at least I do something! My midwife advised some activity including jogging swimming etc. Once I feel better (morning or all day sickness at the moment ble) I will start jogging and maybe swimming
I think is reasonable to take it easy in tww but then on to slowly restore your activities are advisable too. Good luck xxx
Hi there! Tugsgear is right. You need to do only light exercises. Swimming is a tough exercise so it's better to avoid that. Just so you know, it's also important to keep a healthy diet during this. Good luck!
