7 eggs, only one fertilised 😓

hoping-for-the-best profile image

So gutted. We’ve always had good fertilisation but for some reason it just didn’t work this time. 5 were of the right maturity to inject and others did start to show activity but only one has made it. Looking at a three day transfer if we get there at all. Just don’t understand and clinic can give no answers. Apparently egg and sperm quality seemed fine. They say sometimes people just have a bad round. It doesn’t make any sense considering we’ve been healthier than ever over past three months. 🤷‍♀️😓

I’m so sorry. If you need another round, will you consider ICSI for hopefully a better result? But remain focused on the one you still have in the race as you really do only need one to work - thinking of you and sorry for your disappointment today. What cycle are you on? Xxx

Thank you 🙏 We’ve had to do ICSI from the start as it’s male factor. Hoping it’s not an indication of a bad batch overall and that our embie makes it, though it really doesn’t look good at this point if we only have one. Not sure what you mean by what cycle? Xxx

Oh sorry which round/cycle are you on? How many egg collections? X

Ah ok sorry, its the second fresh round after we were lucky enough to conceive my son in 2015 - so third fresh round overall. We had a frozen embryo from his round and one from the last one but they both failed. Last fresh one resulted in a chemical pregnancy xxx

So disappointing and upsetting for you, Im so sorry! Keeping my fingers crossed for your remaining precious embryo. Huge hugs.xx

Aww. Understandably disappointing but there are plenty of ladies on here who get their bfps from their one embryo. Often these lone embies are fighters! Good luck xx

Thanks 😘 hopefully that’s the case and it’s a fighter xxx

Hi, yes been on 300mg Ubiquinol daily which is meant to be better absorbed, plus n-acetyl cysteine, garden of life prenatal with folate, vitamin D, melatonin as antioxidant... hubby was on Condensyl for sperm quality. Plus we had been eating really well and I lost weight so felt really healthy. We really tried and ended up with a worse round than ever before. Still I guess it’s not over yet xx

Get the life extension range and take DHEA 75mg. Take omega 3 2000mg, turmeric tablets, vit c, and d.

Try and go organic if you can. Cut out sugar completely. No diet drinks or foods. Completely natural. No processed foods. Hubby as well. Good luck lovely x

You have to just stick with it for 3 months. It worked for us. X

That’s great, congratulations! Have been doing the no sugar, low carb and no processed thing since August, hubby no sugar for a few weeks but not organic so could try that. It’s hard to get him to comply and he’s only taken Condensyl this round as bad with pills! Forgot to mention I was on DHEA but only 25mg as didn’t want to overdo it, so hard to know whether to give that up or increase it 🤷‍♀️

I do believe that this should have helped things and it was just a fluke so will try to stick with it as it’s healthier overall and can only help, just incredibly frustrating with everything you go through for it to result in this. X

Up your dose to 75mg but take it at different times in the day. It’s a draining process but all this hard work will pay off I promise you. Tell me about it. I so wished I did things differently the first time around. One thing I will say is find a good acupuncture clinic. Are you in London? I can recommended a great place x

I’m so to read this. That little one could be the fighter. Stay positive. I would be defiantly wanting answers from the clinic though. It makes you feel sad especially after getting 7 eggs. Good luck xxxx

Thanks Missy, will hold on but with realistic expectations. We will definitely question what could have happened at the follow up, that’ll be fun in the new year 😏

I’m so sorry to hear your news too, so utterly heartbreaking. I do hope the procedure helps, wishing you all the best xxxx

We got 8 eggs, 5 fertilised and 3 made it to day 5 but only one was deemed good enough- they wouldn't even consider freezing the other two. It was our first and only nhs fresh round as that's all our area will allow. We are very fortunate for that one and only to have worked and i'm currently 23 plus 2 with a little girl. Have faith in your little embie xx

Thanks, there’s a lot of pressure on this one embie! It survived to day 3 though and is still looking good so that’s something. Now on board, we’ll see what happens. Hope all ok with you xx
