Hi folks, I have my review on Thursday after our 3rd failed fresh icsi. We have 3 frozen embies which we are very thankful for. We have never had frozen before so I was just wondering any questions to ask regarding the fet? Medicated/natural, how many to transfer, implantation testing? Genetic testing, maybe it can't b done on frozen embies? Thanks in advance and hope everyone doing well what ever stage you are at xx

It can be done but there are risks to consider; the thaw to take a small sample and then re freezing and then thawing again.. plus even a very minor abnormality means the embryo will be considered not suitable to transfer. I read about a lady in America who only produced embryos that were deemed slightly abnormal so had them transferred anyway (they won’t transfer here) and had a successful pregnancy from it because slight abnormalities can correct themselves..

A natural fet is the easiest cycle on your body but you need to ovulate regularly to be able to do it otherwise it’s a medicated fet. Good luck whatever you decide xx

Yeah so basically best to transfer and take the chance, I kind of thought that but just wanted to check. I do ovulat e every month but I'm not exactly day 14 I cud b anything from 14 to 22.... So I'm not sure if natural will b the way they go. Really dreading my review, I'm still emotional from our bfn and Think I could b a blubbering wreck.

I ovulate between 14/18 but I have an average of 16 and natural fets aren’t a problem for me. You test using an opk and/or until you have a dominant follicle of at least 18mm xx

I had a semi medicated fet (no down regulation) and my clinic told me they get just as good results from these as the fully medicated cycles. I wasn’t offered a natural fet but to be honest I wouldn’t have wanted one as it would have stressed me out!

See I think a natural one would stress me out trying to depend on my body, so a semi is how different than fully medicated? Just no down reg

Yes, no down regulation which I really appreciated as I had big side effects on buserelin and was glad not to have to take it again. No down reg also makes it quicker- about three weeks rather than six from starting drugs to transfer x

Im doing the same as Lizzie. No downregulation, just progynova tablets to help my lining thicken up and I dont have to worry about ovulation as this usually supresses it althought you will still see follicles on scan. This is my first time not down regulating and so far its much better than doing a fully medicated FET, buserelin is the devils drug for me. I wondered about a natural FET but hearing other talk about ovulation sounds awfully stressful. Good luck with what you decide! I havent any experience on the genetic testing but Tugs has given good advice and Im not sure if Id do it if it wasnt for looking for a specific reason as Ive heard it can be harmful too.xx
