When to transfer (continued!)

Hello

Thanks so much to everyone who replied to my post yesterday and sorry for not getting back to you, yesterday was all a bit manic!

We decided to wait til this morning to see how our two embryos were doing. Clinic called earlier and we have a 44 and a 43, both 8-cell, so top quality/very good. We are lucky enough to already have a son and have decided that it’s the right decision for us to have one embryo transferred rather than two. So now we have to decide whether to have the better quality embryo transferred this afternoon or wait til Saturday when they may have more information about which one looks stronger as apparently things can change all the time.

Eeek, this feels like a big decision! Any words of wisdom gratefully received! X

Eeek that's a really tough decision. They both sound like they are on track at 8 cells but hard to pick a front runner as they are fairly similar. You are right though things can dramatically change between now and then which I have been through. If you are only wanting to transfer one think I'd go for transfer of the slightly better one and you can always freeze the other if it makes it.xx

Thanks for your reply (and yesterday too 😃) Yes it’s positive that we can freeze the other if it gets that far. Just waiting to speak to my husband who I think must be in a meeting! Big decision to make... x

It sure is, Ive always put two back if I had 2 and my current clinic reckon it increases chances of success but as you have your little boy I can understand that one is the way forward. Well good luck for transfer....hope it all goes smoothly!xx

Yes transferring one seems like the right thing at this stage especially as it’s our first round of IVF. Thanks for your good wishes! X

Oh star, that's brilliant news that u have 2 great embies. It's such a personal decision. I probably would wait tbh, my clinic tells me a front runner at day 3 isn't always the front runner at day 5, I know u are at day 4 tho so prob will b the best still in day 5. Are u scared if u don't transfer and maybe having none by day 5? It wud b a very slim chance tho. What does ur clinic advise?

Hello, thanks so much for your reply. I am day 3 (collection was Monday though it feels a lifetime ago!). Yes embryologist said things can change all the time so I can see the benefit in waiting til day 5 but yes do feel a bit scared that something terrible might happen and we’d have none and wish we’d transferred today... Clinic have really said it’s up to us! Waiting to talk to my husband but if we go ahead today we are booked in for 1.30! How are you? X

Well it sounds like urheart is laying with transferring today and in need to do what u fell is right, at end of day it will survive better in its own wee environment 🤞 I'm ok just, test date is tomorrow, iv held out this length so one more day, iva really sore back today so worrying af cud b on way. Good luck with what u decide x

I called the embryologist back with a couple of questions and after that discussion decided to wait til Saturday! Fingers crossed our little embryos carry on doing well in the meantime and they will have a clear idea of which to transfer! It’s funny to think about them keeping toasty in an incubator! I really hope it’s good news for you tomorrow. How are you feeling now? X

That's great, u feel better and less stressed wen the decision is made x I'm just ok tonight, got cramps feel sickish, have headache and sore back so all symptoms of af. Not feeling confident at all now :-(

Great news! I don't think there is a right or wrong answer here. Just go with your gut. You have seen how things change all the time over very short spaces of time. Just know that whatever decision you make is the right decision based on the knowledge you have at that time.

Wishing you all the best! Great great news xxx

I’ve just seen your latest post, massive congratulations! What lovely news! You must be over the moon 😃

Thanks for your well wishes. We’ve decided to wait til Saturday, although I’m sure it will feel like a longer wait than that 😂 x

Could your embryologist give you a steer in the right direction? I remember feeling that I wanted them to guide me a bit as it is a huge responsibility making these decisions. My clinic were happy to guide but I guess they are all different. If not go with your heart 💕 I really hope all goes well xxx

Hello! The embryologist talked me through the options but really said the final decision was down to us. I called back later with a few more questions and we have decided to wait til Saturday in the hope that it allows the clinic to choose the best one and they also said the lining is optimum then. Just have to hope all is ok with our little embryos between now and then...! So much waiting in this whole process isn’t there?! How’s your 2ww going? X

I know, the waiting is the worst! Keeping everything crossed for you that you get great news on Sats. 2ww is going well so far, just very slowly, thanks for asking. Good luck 💕xx
