Hello,

So after last months sad news and all that faffing with ovulation results I am back to it!

This time I have booked myself a private scan, they will also check ovulation for me too. I am determined to be sure this FET and want to make sure there is no damage from severe OHSS.

Has anyone else taken their treatment into their own hands after a clinic has not helped with what they feel they need?

Hi, good for you! Sometimes we feel we need to do further research as doctors seems to tell us something which we can’t rest with...

With my IVF fresh attempts (2) I’ve felt I needed to check more then what nhs doctors told me, we basically were classified as unexplained case. Before first attempt I’ve undergone laparoscopy privately, I’ve repeated also all blood tests including thriod and my hubby tested his seamen privately. None of the tests gave us the answers but I was much more calmer. What was my concern always was the level of progesterone as I had sporadic mid-cycle spotting. My first fresh ivf I’ve started on my period just 7days after the transfer-I was only on pessaries progesterone. I new then this was my problem. For second fresh ivf I’ve pushed for PIO shots, this was it I had successful pregnancy! My son is 3 and half now. We have been lucky to get 3funded ivf goes and my second worked for us, but I knew it I had to push them for better drugs-It felt though I had worked out the solution myself as nhs were not concerned about level of my progesterone which I believe was the reason as to why it failed first time.

Good luck with your research and tests sometimes we need to do lots things ourselves to get successful but it will pay it off one day xxx

I am all for advocating for your own health. Some of us are lucky to live in countries with a public health care system but even then sometimes the quality and consistency of care is underwhelming. I grew up in a country where you do everything on the private system so am totally prepared to go get stuff done for myself. My OH unfortunately doesn’t think the same way and has at times chastised me for wanting 2nd opinions or pushing for private treatment early which frustrates me no end!

So if you’re not happy with the level of care you’ve received thus far trust your gut and get that 2nd opinion. If it confirms the advice of your current clinic then at least you’ll be reassured that they’re on the right track. Ultimately it’s your health (both physical and emotional) that’s important.

Absolutely, thank you for this. My husband was similar, telling me that the clinic knows best and I should just listen to them, but I need reassurance. x
